I'm not a Royalist like some are but I see it as a good thing in that it will hopefully help people to forget all the negative and depressing stuff that's happening. If people with whatever personal problem can forget for a while when watching others enjoy the day, whether it's Royals or day to day folk having fun either in London if they've travelled there, or locally if they're celebrating, to me that's positive for them
Thankyou yellow rose, it's good to see some positive thinking around here.
i thinks its great
i have my bunting hanging out as i type
nah,
i'll be watching-i love stuff like this-and the way the world is at the mo-we need a bit of cheering up
I am going to watch it and enjoy it. I wish them luck and sunshine but I don't think they will get the sunshine.
I totally agree with you Summer. Its a really feelgood day. Its good for the Country, this will be shown all over the world. I am looking forward to it, and i am just out to get the newspapers too, to put them away for my granddaughter to read when she is older. Have a lovely day everyone x
I'll be watching and loving it! It's such a change to see joyful stuff on the telly and they make a lovely couple - good luck to them in their future life
What Summer said above.. I am excited and would loved to have been in the crowds (from all over the world to soak up the atmosphere)wether we are royalists or not.. as the case may be I am sure everyone wishes them all the best ..unless you have a heart of steel,I will be sat in front of my telly enjoying every minute of the wedding.. three hours to go
We all can't wait. We've started our party already so I'm off to join them.
Hope you all have a great day and don't get tooooo drunk
I wasn't that keen but am going to watch and am getting excited now - enjoy everyone!!
I'm watching ... isn't the inside of the Abbey amazing
No one does pomp and ceremony like us! Going to watch, if just for that and a glimpse of Kate's dress.
As someone else said, it's so nice to see something joyful on the telly!

I'm looking forward to it too, Marguerita.
They seem like a nice young couple and very much in love. I wish them along and happy life together.
Its a good thing for whoever is getting married, but it doesn't impact my life in any way shape or form...actually it does...its hard to get away from it all
Not a royalist by any means but love weddings and think the royal family are great for attracting tourists to the country. Having been to the Queen's birthday parade a couple of times sitting in Horse Guards Parade and its a great atmosphere
Nice to see so many young people there.
A nice contrast to the last time a lot of young people gathered in London.
I'm sure it's good for them, and good luck to them.
But it makes no difference to me and I wasn't at all interested in watching it.
I've loved it.... & my family have loved it.
I'm not an obsessive royalist.... but am not an anti royalist either... but its been a fab day... & I think they are a lovely couple.
I hope this is a new era in public perception of the royals... I am proud of them, today may well have inspired a whole new generation to feel the same way

My sentiments exactly ..........................i always intended to watch it but had no idea just how much I'd enjoy it.
It's good for them, a nice bit of propaganda to ensure their benefits scrounging is perpetuated. It's good for the upper classes like Cameron who see themselves as born to rule. It's good for the establishment toadies, hanging on for state baubles.
Good for the country? I don't think so. It makes us look like a backward forelock tugging throwback of a nation. A nation where everyone knows their place, no one rises from their 'station' and everyone is preoccupied with minutiae of social manners and one-upmanship.
The Royals' popularity rise and fall according to how young, eligible and photogenic the top royals are at a particular time. At the moment Kate and William are young and photogenic.
The Royal family are a bit like bullfighting in Spain. Popular in its host country, and a bit of a tourist attraction. But even those who go to see that tourist attraction, wouldn't necessarily want it in their country and see it as evidence of Spain's backward culture.
I'm sure it's good for them, and good luck to them.

Ditto..
backward countries like Spain, Norway, Sweden, Denmark. there are some more sinister elite dynasties in republics.
I didn't watch all of it, but I felt they both had more input into proceedings than grandma or Cameron. She looked like something out of Avalon, really lovely, he couldn't stop smiling. I kept thinking any moment now, he's going to jump protocol and hug her. Whatever else might be going wrong in the world or this country, the 'firm' can still lay on a good day and revive the feel good factor.

I don't agree this time carnelian. I'm sure if there'd be a survey, the queen would come tops and she's 85 in a minute.

Know what you're saying Carnelian, but she's the grandaughter of a Durham miner and the daughter of a trolley dolly
And Wills photogenic, bless him, but with that premature baldy heed?

He seems to have all of Edward's genes. I saw Edward on the news some time ago, to do with the Falklands. He was dressed in his military gear, hat an all. He looked really attractive and I didn't realise it was him until he took the hat off.

Yep.
Smiles all round in the House of Windsor.
The Queen still works at 85, the Duke at 90. Okay, so its not work as we know it but they are expected to carry on regardless of age and are open to public critisism and danger all their lives.
Money and social status are not the be all and end all of having a happy life

The queen maintains popularity but the institution as a whole is more popular when the key royals are young, eligible and photogenic.

like all high profile 'careers' in entertainment, sport or leadership. it's a shallow old world.

Good job they got hitched before he lost it all then! The royals are at their most popular when there's a society clothes horse female doing the rounds.
It's a bit shallow that people judge the constitutional relevance and validity of the institution of monarchy on superficial things such as how a key royal fills out a dress or how photogenic they look in newspaper souvenirs. The royal family are just an extension of celeb culture, for those pretentious enough to think they're above following celebrity culture.

Entertainers usually have to be good at entertaining, sports people usually have to be good at their sports, leaders usually have to have leadership qualities. The royals just have to be photogenic and not entirely despicable.
They're good at waving.
