I'm not a Royalist like some are but I see it as a good thing in that it will hopefully help people to forget all the negative and depressing stuff that's happening. If people with whatever personal problem can forget for a while when watching others enjoy the day, whether  it's Royals or day to day folk having fun either in London if they've travelled there, or locally if they're celebrating, to me that's positive for them

I love it, I'm not a royalist really but I'm thrilled and will be watching! This lovely couple are our future king & queen!!!! People will still be talking about it 50 years from now, I can't imagine telling people that I "couldn't be bothered" to watch it And like these folk above say, it's wonderful to have some good news to celebrate and talk about, the papers have so much doom, gloom, the world's gone mad.. I'm going to buy today's newspapers too and save them

I'm looking forward to it too, Marguerita.

They seem like a nice young couple and very much in love. I wish them along and happy life together.

I've loved it.... & my family have loved it.

I'm not an obsessive royalist.... but am not an anti royalist either...    but its been a fab day...  & I think they are a lovely couple.

I hope this is a new era in public perception of the royals...    I am proud of them, today may well have inspired a whole new generation to feel the same way

My sentiments exactly ..........................i always intended to watch it but had no idea just how much I'd enjoy it.

It's good for them, a nice bit of propaganda to ensure their benefits scrounging is perpetuated.  It's good for the upper classes like Cameron who see themselves as born to rule.  It's good for the establishment toadies, hanging on for state baubles.

Good for the country?  I don't think so.  It makes us look like a backward forelock tugging throwback of a nation.  A nation where everyone knows their place, no one rises from their 'station' and everyone is preoccupied with minutiae of social manners and one-upmanship.

The Royals' popularity rise and fall according to how young, eligible and photogenic the top royals are at a particular time.  At the moment Kate and William are young and photogenic.

I didn't watch all of it, but I felt they both had more input into proceedings than grandma or Cameron. She looked like something out of Avalon, really lovely, he couldn't stop smiling. I kept thinking any moment now, he's going to jump protocol and hug her. Whatever else might be going wrong in the world or this country, the 'firm' can still lay on a good day and revive the feel good factor.

I don't agree this time carnelian. I'm sure if there'd be a survey, the queen would come tops and she's 85 in a minute.

Know what you're saying Carnelian, but she's the grandaughter of a Durham miner and the daughter of a trolley dolly

And Wills photogenic, bless him, but with that premature baldy heed?

He seems to have all of Edward's genes. I saw Edward on the news some time ago, to do with the Falklands. He was dressed in his military gear, hat an all. He looked really attractive and I didn't realise it was him until he took the hat off.

The queen maintains popularity but the institution as a whole is more popular when the key royals are young, eligible and photogenic.

Good job they got hitched before he lost it all then!  The royals are at their most popular when there's a society clothes horse female doing the rounds.

It's a bit shallow that people judge the constitutional relevance and validity of the institution of monarchy on superficial things such as how a key royal fills out a dress or how photogenic they look in newspaper souvenirs.  The royal family are just an extension of celeb culture, for those pretentious enough to think they're above following celebrity culture.

Entertainers usually have to be good at entertaining, sports people usually have to be good at their sports, leaders usually have to have leadership qualities.  The royals just have to be photogenic and not entirely despicable.
