I have always thought it was Paddy, he left Marlon but arrived back around the same time and lost or broke his glasses on the way... I could be wrong... Another theory i have is Emma... as she was trying to shoot Chaz... I really don't think it will turn out to be any of the obvious suspects as come on it's soap land!

Well, I watched ehat 'flasnback' episode, with mum-in-law last night, but as I don't generally watch it I'm not too sure who was who, so I'm not really a great deal wiser!

It was a strangers on a train type thing..

 

Ross did it for Andy, who checked into the mental hospital as an alibi as he would have been the chief suspect and was going to do it any. . he is now, or was, supposed to kill Ross's brother in return...  except Robert didn't die so it went a tad Pete Tong

It made the whole Andy/Pete relationship recently clearer, the scramblers? Was that Andys attempt?

could have been ... I thought it was him losing the plot and wanting to top himself..  I stopped watching Emmerdale when Andy and Robert were still kids and only recently started watching it again. .I am not a soaps person usually but it is on about the time I am finishing off emails and stuff for the evening before watching the box properly of ann evening so kinda got into a bit. .

 

I do know he was supposed to have had mental problems before.. but yeah maybe he meant for Pete to go over the edge and drown.. but I thought he had wanted to go on the scrambling thing on his own and Pete insisted he go too. . That was last week so have forgotten already

My money was on the mental Emma/Chas thing too. Ah well.

Who exactly is Aaron and why does Robert's (Mum is it?) seem to be quite happy to think/believe he'd shoot Robert?

Aaron is the son of Chas Dingle. Chas owns the pub in partnership with Diane Sugden.

Aaron had an affair with Robert while Robert was married to Chrissie.

Diane is Robert's stepmum and she believes Aaron shot Robert because Aaron was found in possession of the gun which was used to shoot Robert.

Aaron hated Robert after Robert caused the death of Katie. Katie was the wife of Andy (Robert's brother).

 

I think Ross is going to do something dastardly to Pete - to add to his ever growing list of evil deeds.

However,apart from a moralistic dislike of someone who kills someone, why does Aaron now hate Robert?

It seems to me that there's more to Diane's insistence that Aaron shot Robert than only because Aaron was found with the gun.

Aaron is a spurned lover..  Robert denies his sexuality [bi or gay] yet he and Aaron had a steamy affair and were in lurve..  Aaron's lurve has turned to hate.. especially when he found out Robert pushed Katie and left her to die and Katie was his mums best friend.
