It has obviously been added after a great deal of investigation and analysis to make sure that it was going to add value. I know that several posters have said that it has made their lives more complete than they could have dared hope.  And some didn't.

I think people should give it a chance and see how it is looking in a years time.

The intentions were good but I don`t like it either.

It has the potential to include and exclude.

I think it`s best just to check the hidden calendar for birthdays.

Perhaps someone should be appointed to check all calendar annotations to ensure that birthday felicitations are delivered.  Or maybe a Standard Birthday Thread where members names are automatically populated by the software whizzos, plus a Standard Unbirthday Thread to make sure those celebrating Unbirthdays do not feel excluded.

If its too much for the software perhaps those enjoying both birthdays and unbirthdays could start their own threads or even get one of their forum chums to do it for them so we have no more disgraceful episodes like Dobbygate and Captain Marblesgate alluded to by Scotty ^^^

for someone like me who has a brain like a sieve I find it useful but I accept that there should probably be an option whereby you can opt out of it if you don't want your birthday displayed.

I have a feeling (though I could be wrong) that threads are only ever started for people who are known to post here????

Happy birthday Fletch and if it isn't today (I haven't checked) you can save this wish until your next one

I see what you mean. I feel that because it`s announced beforehand the surprise element has gone and no-one wants to be the first to start the thread. If you know what I mean?

Yes admin do - the mods here are very open to any suggestions.  if you pm (i.e. start a dialogue with) either Lori or Rosemary they will listen to your views

@ Scotty - I hadn't thought about the surprise element - tbh I'm usually trying to forget I have a birthday as it means I'm another year older

there again it does encourage me to specifically to hunt for relative pictures to add to a birthday thread  for others and personalise them when I'm feeling very creative.

I can see both pros and cons to it

In your personal settings there is an option you can tick, "not to display your birthday".

If you tick that, your birthday won't appear on the calendar.

That's why mine isn't there.

Oo thank God someone sensible to answer your query Fletch  - I'd not realised you could do that cos I'm so computer illiterate

I know what you mean. I wished I`d said that instead of gibbering up there ^^^

My son ticked the box for me when he registered me on this site, 'cos I was too thick to do it for myself.

You had a great birthday thread last time. Remember the singing penguins?

I love all the creative stuff that you, hoochie, baby bunny, Dame Anne etc do.

Carry on the good work.
