Delia and Nigella.
I have come to the conclusion that I just don't like male celeb chefs. They all irritate me

Me too. I like Nigella too (although she's a bit ott lately).
Has anyone ever watched The Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten?
Salt, mayo, cream overkill. But she's a scream to watch....for all the wrong reasons.

I used to love 2 fat ladies...

Never seen one of shows. I will look out for her on the Food channel.

I know Nigel Slater isn't a chef in the true sense of the word (he sees himself as just a cook) but I could watch him cook all day
I do like Nigella but her simpering porn style is wearing a bit thin now

I really couldn't say ................there are too many and I'm fickle - I sway in my allegiances,
For Christmas (The Turkey recipe in particular) Phil Vickery gets my vote.

has to be good old Delia

....Nigella.
Nigella irritates me. Especially her orgasmic finger licking.
Nigel Slater.
Jamie Oliver, and I know she's not an actual chef but I loved the delicious miss Dahl!
Nigel Slater.
(Gino d'Acampo is nice to look at.)

Especially Jennifer. I know Clarissa's had a 'life' but Jen used to come out with the occasional snippet of dubious gossip. I'm sure she once came out with the line:
"in Rio drinking cocktails on the backstairs with His Excellency and the local priest"
...or something like that.

Jennifer was brilliant Cosi and yes she really did come out with some classics.
Miss Dahl
Cannot stand that pretentious so and so. She has no aspirations to be a cook or a chef and the food she makes is carp, just like the vacuous lines that go with it. Please, never have another serious.

She cooks enough to feed an army and yet there's only her and her husband, Jeffrey. You'll hear a lot about Jeffrey...
And everything's "A Par-taaaaaaaay" - even when there's the sum total of 4 people sharing a quick lunch. She's a proper Susie Homemaker and all Mom's Apple Pie.
The Hairy Bikers. Funny, and down to earth food that fills you.

I still have a soft spot for dearly departed Fanny Craddock and I used to love watching Julia Child - she was absolutely barking
ooooo and who were those two New Zealand cooks they used to argue with each other like an old married couple bugging me and Peter Gordon
*goes away to ponder names*

Hudson and Halls
I love the Hairy Bikers, they have me in fits and the Geordie one is quite nice really! Delia is the ultimate though, we watch her stuff on the Food channel....the really early stuff is soooo naff, but brilliant....
.....oh and James Martin....because he is gorgeous, from Yorkshire and he loves making puddings....

Awww, he was great.
Poor sod had a heart attack - recovered and then re-wrote all his recipes so that they were more healthy.

Hudson and Halls
What ever happened to them? The one with glasses used to get a bit sniffy at times whilst the toothy one used to just laugh at everything.
Marco Pierre White.
I thought it was Graham Kerr's wife who had the heart attack.
Never heard of Hudson and Halls.

You're correct, Cracking - it was a his wife; she had a stroke and then a heart attack.

Lucky Graham.

Sadly drank himself to death. Liked his series such as Floyd Around the Med.
What about Hugh -Ferny-Whittingstall, him off River Cottage? Liked him till he started preaching about buying "Free range, Organic" etc;. Same as Jamie Oliver with his get folk eating healty here and in the US.

Very sad - Hudson (glasses) died of cancer and Halls (toothy) committed suicide the year after as he couldn't live without him I loved the Galloping gourmet as well

I drew the line when Hugh raided a rooks nest for young birds Crispy
Agree, and when he was out shooting for his Multi-Bird roast. Whats the point Cant he be satisfied with a big turkey?
Former Member
I have to say that I always buy free range/organic when I can.
I just abhor and detest factory farming.
My turkey will cost a small fortune this year but it will come from a good local farm and would have been allowed to roam free.
I would rather buy a small good quality joint than a large cheap imported one.

Thats fine if you have the money to do that. Most of the poore families will strugle this year just to buy regular stuff, and as for next Christmas under this Govt we will be on jam and bread.

*shrugs*
I work hard Crispy and yes you are right I am lucky that I can buy good quality stuff, Food is a helluva price nowadays. I also think it is not helped by the fact that generally people seem to have forgotten how to cook ( or have never been taught) so a lot of the cheaper cuts of meat that can be used to make stews etc are not so popular and also so called fast food is cheaper than it ever has been.
