look at my post further up...already been mentioned Razzer actually the l'oreal one is good for the neck

Dove - Great, lots of ,moisturising and last a few days....but can be a bit dark if you are very pale.

Garnier - Nice smell (imo) not a thick as the Dove cream more a lotion...but does build up very gradually.

Johnsons - Thickish cream, nice gradual tan...can look orangey though on me.

Avon spray tan...my fav' of them all...light tan, good moisturiser, sprays upside down to do your back, lasts a reasonable amount of time...although more of a tan spray than a gradual build up.

Nivea...great for moisturising - not a strong enough colour for me....but would be great for beginners or for very pale skinned peeps.

Top tip....exfoliate well between each application (superdrug do some fab' mitts for this job)...to avoid orange knees etc and wash your hands in shower gel to avoid orange palms the day after! Ninja

Oh and I have used all the above on my face with no side effects or tangoed face repercussions! Wink Laugh

Worst one I've ever used is Superdrug spray tan....way toooooo dark on the first application and streaks like no bodies business! Disappointed

Tesco and Asda own brand tanning creams are fairly good too if you want an instant over night regular tan - they don't streak! Ninja

Good Luck...have fun and 'less' is better with this stuff! Big Grin

Hi Bagel Wave

I have freckles - so find a tan helps to disguise them a bit. I like to look healthy...pale and interesting just makes me look ill! Big Grin

wow pixie you are a veritable expert on the subject and I thank you for the information you have posted. Also many thanks to all of the others in this thread, with a couple of exceptions, who have also been good enough to provide me with their opinions on the subject. Every year there seems to be more and more choice and new products on the shelves and it is impossible to try each and every one of them. Once again ta very much Thumbs Up

Sometimes there are small sample size bottles available for peeps to take on their hols....these are a really cheap way to test them out too. Thumbs Up

I agree sample bottles are great for holls or even if you need to go into hospital and I am always on the look out for freebies etc and then stash them away for the holls.

wait, wait, wait.... You really put on tanning creme before you go to the hospital? Why? To look deeply tanned for the nurse that is going to put a thermometer under your tongue or take your blood pressure?

I just don't get it. Confused Am I dense? What am I missing here?

I think it might be a women having babies thing... I have a stash of mini bottles for my hospital bag (when im pregnant) and just as some women wouldn't leave the house without there makeup... fake tan I guess could fall into that catagory .... I think that is a good answer on 4 hours sleep Big Grin

Not sure fairy - haven't seen it advertised.

I only use Dove products as I have sensitive skin and my Consultant recommended Dove as it is free of chemical additives.

I'm completely happy with it and their selection of shower gels/creams is great.

I’ve tried loads, currently trying the Dove one for dark skin ( I’m fluorescent white by the way so should really have gone for the light one) pleased with the results so far, but wouldn’t use it on my legs due to a couple of tiger stripe experiences. For legs I prefer Xen Tan you see the colour when you put it on & it developes & lasts for days. Also like Xen tan for face & neck.

I'm pretty certain it was dove but it did say only participating stores but didn't say which stores they were.

We use dove as my daughter suffers from eczema. She doesn't like to feel "different" and it was one of the ones the specialist recommended to us. We've had no problems with dove and it really keeps her skin hydrated Nod

didnt mean sample bottles of tinted body lotion for hospital - I mean sample bottles of toiletries in general - eg shampoo, deodrant, shower gell - the small bottles are easier to fit into a soap bag if you are going away either on holiday or hosp
