The Bank of England has published a list of those people nominated by the public to be shown on the next £20 note.

As the nominations were for visual artists (such as painters, sculptors, photographers, costume designers and film directors) the list excludes those outside the areas of visual arts.

 

It's a long list and is in alphabetical order by people's first names rather than surnames

Of people mentioned above, Alfred Hitchcock is in the list. I haven't checked if any of the others have.

 

The committee will start considering a shortlist in September.

 

I did nominate Michael Powell the film director of films such as A Matter of Life and Death and The Red Shoes and he is in the list.
