I know, I know, I know, fascinating subject for a Saturday night but i've always kept mine in the fridge, but someone told me to keep them at room temperature (not body temperature)

I do both, I keep 6 out and the rest stay in the fridge.
Not in the fridge....they're not refridgerated in shops for a good reason....cos they're not mean to be.

who knows??...maybe for the millions that wrongly keep their eggs in the fridge...though my fridge doesn't have one.

Mine doesn't have one! my eggs are in egg boxes in a cupboard.... not in the fridge!! I keep 6 chickens for their eggs ,42 a week until they moult!
What is it about hens that they have this ability to start such debates?
I keep mine in the fridge - mainly because I have nice tidy egg compartment! I don't think it's so much that they're not refrigerated in shops because they're not MEANT to be really - more because they don't HAVE to be? I think the biggest problem with keeping them in the fridge is they're more likely to crack if you bring them to the boil quickly. Then again - I'm not known for my culinary expertise!

I keep mine in the fridge, and take out a couple of hours before I need them.
Always keep my husbands eggs ( I don't eat the nasty things!!) at room temperature, mostly on top of the fridge.

Mine stay in the fridge but like Mary S I take them out to get them to room temp an hour or so before if I need them
I have to keep mine in the fridge, my house is like an oven which shortens how long they will stay fresh....

Pantry shelf... just below normal room temperature... i.e. a cool place.
I think the most important thing is to keep them at a fairly constant temperature... so on the windowsill where they get warm in the sunlight and then cold again at night is not a good idea.

in the fridge is the correct way to store eggs in your home. The reason they are not stored in fridges at the shops is because shops have constant temperatures. Our homes become too hot & too cold at times & this is not good for eggs

Really? **removes assorted eggs from about her person**I keep them in my kitchen cupboard. It's never that warm in there anyway. The cupboard is against an outside wall and near a window.

I keep them in the fridge and depending on what I am using them for, sometimes take them out in advance to bring them to room temperature first.
If boiling them I take them from the fridge, place them in a pan which I fill with COLD water and add salt immediately. The salt in the water does more to prevent cracking than the temperature of the egg. If they are heated too quickly they will crack. No matter WHAT the starting temperature was.

Just so! NOT being in a fridge does not necessarily imply that refrigeration is wrong, all that can br deduced from that is that it is not a necessary requirement. At the min I haven't got any and very rarely buy them these days. Consequently when I fancy one I haven't got any in but when I do have them they stay in the kitchen cupboard on the wall. That said, my fridge does have an egg compartment
in the fridge, cos i have a nice little rack for them in there...and no bloody room anywhere else...no other reason
