When people say they 'Hate' a housemate?

I don't get it.

I have never 'hated' a housemate EVER. Sure there have been housemates that irritated me to depths of hell and back (Freddie and Marcus spring to mind), but I could never 'hate' someone as superficial as a housemate.

I could hate someone who has deliberately killed or seriously harmed a member of my family or friend. I could hate someone who would selfishly take their own life whilst killer thousands of others. I can also hate wasps because they sting you for no reason.

But to say you 'hate' a housemate/film actor/tv star etc is a tiny bit sad if you ask me....not that you did, I'm just having a mini rant.

I've said that. Then when they come out and they're all sort of 'normal' in their eviction interviews I suddenly miss them being in there and forgive them. I'm a bit weird though

The most I'll run to is 'Can't stand'

The thing is ............if you put an alternative POV into a 'hate' thread ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you're made out to be argumentative and disagreeable

They're not worth falling out over, that's for sure.
If they really get on my pips I tend to say I loathe them (but that's because I know I wouldn't give them the time of day apart from shouting at them on BB).

No Rawky you don't, it's just that people don't really mean it. People have said 'I hate peas'. On reflection they're unlikely to form an army and go to war with peas.

How can anyone actually hate someone on TV when they have never met them?

I've never "hated" an hm and from BB1 onwards have never used that word, the most I've felt for some is an intense dislike and have been glad when they've gone and don't want to hear or know anything more about them once they've left

How can anyone actually hate someone on TV when they have never met them?

I don't understand why the range of feelings or emotions for someone on TV should be restricted to like or dislike. Who made up that rule? If someone does something awful on BB (eg. spitting in the face of another) then I think they are worthy of hatred, quite frankly.
