That's about the only thing in this thread that I've ever heard of   I could cook that I think......but I'd have to read the instructions

Timing is everything with this recipe Ella. Stir quickly after 2 minutes then let stand and add a little hot water at the end and of course all of the chilli sauce, then serve immediately. Don't fall into the trap of stirring it before the first 2 mins is up or you'll be trying to stir all the grungey bits at the bottom that aren't ready to be stirred yet.

It took me quite a few attempts to master it

I'm mince queen ... I blame my student days and a good few years immediately post divorce where every penny counted.

Give me 750g of good minced beef and I can feed us for a week. My spag bol is - in the kids view - my signature dish. Daughter has my chilli up there too but son doesn't like that "foreign muck" so he has chicken korma.  And yup ... cottage pie too.

Of all the expensive cuts of meat my daughter loves cheap and cheerful belly pork.

We fight over the crackling too .. before cooking I pour boiling water over the raw joint then rub liberally with oil and salt.

Shuttuuuuuuup....I am salivating....

I make an alternative shepherds pie. I got the recipe from my sister a few years ago, its called 'down under shepherds pie' apparently it came from Australia.  Its the usual mince, carrots, gravy etc but also add some sultanas and curry powder (about 3 tablespoons of med curry powder for an average size shepherds pie).  It sounds like something you would not want to risk cooking incase it spoiled your tried and tested usual pie but please give it a go. It really is delicious and several people ive cooked it for have said it sounds odd but when they have tried it they prefer it to normal shepherds pie.

OMG - that looks deish *lickylipssmiley*

I'm having a dimella now, I need 3 cake tins but only have 2. I need to go out to buy more caster sugar anyway, so do I pop out quickly to the corner shop for sugar and just make 2 cakes instead of 3, or go to Asda for sugar and a cake tin so I can do the 3?

Yep I've seen loads wearing PJ bottoms and even some wearing the full set with no shame   Although I did run to the mobile shop that stops in our street in my PJs once   the kids weren't home and I needed milk and hadn't expected the mobile round at that time so wasn't dressed yet.  The shopkeeper didn't even bat an eyelid so he must see it all the time

It worked out ok, except one of them got a bit stuck in the tin, but I put that one in the middle and covered with icing and lemon curd I was so impressed with my efforts I took a photo of it

It was yummy Syd, apart from the original icing in the recipe... so I just changed that for my taste I only had 2 tins, so had to try and leave enough - they seemed to turn out pretty even this time, I usually end up with one really skinny one, or one fat one

that recipe was quite coconutty..not too much but there was no a definate coconut flavour.  The rice in that recipe is deeeeeelicious with the dressing (made of soy and lime and sugar) over it. the dressing on its own tastes rank and i thought it would taste horrible but when you pour a little of it on the rice something magic happens with the flavours and its just AMAZING!

this is another really good and REALLY easy recipe from the bbc site (i like that site) this recipe could not be more easy, the only active cooking is browning the chicken for 5 mins and frying the onion.

They only way to describe this is full of flavour, its just bursting with flavour, a really really great recipe.

Moroccan chicken with lentils ...

I'm gonna do that for my OH - sounds right up his street!

oh I might give that a go - I seem to have loads of chicken thighs in the freezer, I dunno where they've all come from!

Yes, please give it a go, its lovely. I have made it twice, first time i left the apricots whole as the recipe said but i found it a bit off putting eating a whole apricot, so the second time i quartered them. It made no difference to the taste but i think made it a better texture...depends of course your take on chunks of fruit
