Great film.........specially the Nun......

I'm with you on this Rawky! A laugh a lot in RL..... but there are very few comedy films that make me laugh out loud. I often sit in the cinema, mildly amused, while those around me are howling.

 

The only one I can remember watching and truly LOL-ing at is Ace Ventura Pet Detective. 

 

Maybe I need to go more often

At the time Blazing Saddles. I also thought that The Life of Brian worked on so many levels.

Naked gun 2 1/2 for me, and I didn't find the first hangover film funny at all

Bigus Dickus worked on a lot of levels.

Yet more posts m'phone can't cope with.

Working purely on Ken Dodd's measure of "tpm" (titters-per-minute), it would probably be a toss-up between "Airplane" and "Blazing Saddles".

 

However, I usually give my favourite comedy film as "This is Spinal Tap". Mind you; abyone who's seen "Anvil! The story of Anvil" will know that Real Life will always prove funnier...

Both very funny.

When I saw the title of this thread it was Blazing Saddles that immediately sprang to mind ....................love Life of Brian too.

Gene Wilder makes me laugh just looking into his eyes...........

Ah! I forgot the Marx bros, Woody Allen, And Trains n Planes. Mrs jer and I use lots of material from them on a daily basis! I'm afraid that we are a couple who have many in - jokes which probably annoy other people. It's years since I've been to the pitchaz and I tend to rely on the tellybox for humour.

Indeed .............he always reminded me of Marty Feldman .......................he always made me laugh - anyone remember him?

 Pretty solid list that.  Not sure about Withnail and I but that's because I hate students tbh.

 

And Shaun of the Dead is chronically overrated.  Ditto Anchorman.

Noooooooooooooo, Gene's are blue and have a smile behind them......Marty's, bless him, were cross eyed and bulgy.........

I remember watching Marty Feldman with my mum. The sketch that comes to mind is the 'horse race' with the royal family as the horses

 

Joe - I can't stand Woody Allen, don't find him funny at all, but I totally get the in jokes thing. In our house it's quotes from Bob Mills when he was doing In Bed With Medinner.

Years since that was on but we still use them

Marty Feldman and his Taxi Drivers doing the Battle of Britain parody, and of course Bill the Burglar, and even the World Cup commentator.

I like the Scary Movies as well

He's often on fighting talk on 5live on a Saturday morning - still very funny

Blazing saddles,still makes me laugh even though I've seen it dozens of times.  It takes a lot to make me laugh at a film. Folk around me fall about laughing and I sit there rather bemused or bored.

'Life of Brian'. Still giggle at the same parts even though I've seen it loads. The bit with Spike Milligan's cameo still makes me howl. The film that took me by surprise in the last few years was 'Talladega Nights' with Will Ferrell. I saw it on a plane and planned to fall asleep with the earphones in. My husband spent the next hour and a half nudging my arm for me to keep the cackling down. It was so silly and unexpected.

edit: and yes to 'Blazing Saddles'...the town drunk stole that film 

edit again: the list, yes defo 'Some like it hot'. Can watch that over and over again, but then I love Jack Lemmon....just remembered 'The Odd Couple'. Love that 

I have to agree with you Rawky on The Hangover 2, I was expecting much more.  I loved the first one and howled at it but the second is just pretty much the same

 but not so funny second time around.

 

I'm probably alone in my likings but Wedding Crashers is probably the one I laugh at everytime I see it.  I'm watching the Rush Hour trilogy right now and I LOL at that but the funniest parts are the bloopers at the end. Hear no Evil See no Evil.  Some Rob Scneider (sp) films and quite a few others that have the likes of Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler and the likes in them.

 

Also love stupid films like Airpland, Naked Gun and Hot Shots.

I dislike most current American comedies. I tend to like more "brain" humour than belly laughs anyway, so old films like Kind Hearts and Coronets, and Arsenic and Old Lace still make me laugh. I also like the Python films, and Delicatessen had a lot of humour in it too.

I just remembered 'Harold and Maude'. Odd but funny.

Brilliant film!

What a brilliant film that was, but I still prefer my favourite: Dr. Strangelove.
