A forum is an open public space to exchange thoughts and ideas. If you post stuff on forums [1] then it's for everybody to comment on if they want. Kinda what forum means, really.
[1] I refuse to say fora, before anyone points it out. That's what I hate about forums.

I'd agree with this....if you don't want people involved then keep it off the forums.
Also...I hate people trying to claim ownership of threads and trying to dictate who/what can be posted in them!

Even if it's personal, and even if they could have brought it to you in private?
I dont agree

Public comment is one thing. Here we now have the added horror of PMs for people to give their twopenneth, spread gossip and flex their malicious muscle

I dont agree
I agree with you there. We have a PM facility on here which we never had on BBGF. People should use it more often instead of bringing it onto the open forum.

I dont agree
First rule of forums, for the sane: never give out truly personal information and expect that everything in PMs and emails could be made public.

Ive been forumming long enough I know that
I just think that certain stuff is better left said in private, and that if it has been dragged on to the forum doesnt mean its open house for everyone to have a pop.

I heard
People who share their personal love life problems then get defensive on the advice given with good intention.
Don`t get me wrong, I`m sympathetic, but if you air it on a forum, expect different views.

i hear you, irritates the hell ut of me when some asks for advice in a situation, and then discounts any and all of the solutions, preferring to wallow.
I can't stand anyone on this forum... I hate you all

That`s my thinking too Jackson. Why ask if you refuse to hear the answers?

Or, you take the time and trouble to give them advice in a well thought out post and they ignore you

oh they hear them but actually succuming to one would kill the thread so they post great tomes explaining why it couldn't possibly work...

yep 'specially if the advice will work...
I also hate the enormous sigs...they're likely to get you put on my ignore list cos there's no option to turn them off.

That`s mainly because they`re selective in what they want to hear.
