This would never win as it would deemed to be far to simple and not complicated enough by those food snobs. 
BUT this is what I would serve...

Smoked salmon and home made bread and butter with lemon - served with champagne.

Beef slowly braised all day in beer served with toasted french bread and cheese on the top. Accompanied by babycorn and asparagus.

A choice of dessert - either chocolate trifle or fresh fruit salad.

Boring but delicious and easy to prepare.
