Do you know I have sat here as you posted this, closed my eyes trying to think....and all I can say is Saturday morning pictures.....and The Wizard of Oz.....even tho I am sure I  watched one I liked more as a kid.....(but it was a very long time ago and my memory is tainted by watching films with my children and grandchildren)

I'm with Syd; it was Saturday morning pictures for us as kids - d@mned if I can remember what we watched, although I used to get really rattled because there was ALWAYS a cowboy film for the boys before the main film.

I used to like Saturday afternoons with my mum or nan.  We'd watch all the old b&w classics like Now Voyager with Bette Davis, or the Marx Bros as has already been mentioned.

Musicals were always a favourite, especially if Fred 'n Ginger cut a rug.

I remember being taken to see 2001 A Space Odyssey, did not have a clue what it was about, I was but a child! Although I have it in my collection now.

My fave film from childhood (although an adult film) was 'The Outsider; with Tony Curtis based on a true story about a WW2 Veteran who helped raise the flag at Iwo Jima.....great film.

My mum was horrified by Bambi and walked out mid-show.

She refused to watch any Disney stuff until I was a teen and that was because I'd vetted Jungle Book beforehand for her 

Snow White terrified the life out of her (and still does)

There were also horsey films too

White Horses was a favourite but I think it was because we all sang along with the feme toon

I enjoyed those type of epic films too.... as well as Disney films, Snow White, Cinderella, etc...

Exactly the hairstyle mum had ! She'd vary it by flicking the ends out  stead of in the way !

My mum had the blonde flick-out hairstyle.  She used to be on the same train home as me when I was at secondary school.  I'd get off and wait on the platform for her, and all the boys from my school would hang out the window wolf whistling her.  She even used to stop and chat with them (bloody annoying!) all charming like.

Even more annoying when you're a 5'6" gangly girl in school uniform standing next to a petite little blonde bird
