never have got the hang of texting   but did manage a predictive OK from outside the hospital one day hoping the receiver would understand and ring me straight back LOL - it worked and all was ok - I had got a message out and knowing me and texting realised i needed to make contact

Oh God it was when texting first came out about 12 years ago. I had an Ericksson phone and I think the first text was 'this is great I dont have to speak to you!'

Don`t know how to text.  Middle son did try to show me a couple of times but his fingers go faster than the speed of light, so I`m still clueless.

Not sure what the random letter arrangement was, but it was my first and last textual experience.

I think it was something like hello, once I had taken the awful predictive text off.
That's the first thing I do when I get a new phone is take that bloody predictive text off - hate it.

Oh happy memories of my Nokia 3210, like a brick but a lovely easy phone to use.

My very first one was a Motorola and was as big as the Sky remote is, that was in 1999, blimey 10 years ago!!  I now have a pink Razr but am hoping for a Sony Ericsson at Christmas, seen one I really like on the Asda website and emailed it my hubby with hint hint on it.

to make matters worse I ban the mobile from the meal table so the other day my lad was fumbling in his pocket   I says " what ya doing "  texting mum  he says

how can you text when the bliddy thing is in your pocket   I have now banned that too during mealtimes

I`ve never heard of texting whilst the moblie`s in your pocket.

That's anorexic compared to my first phone, the Motorola 8800x in 1992

I remember in 1990 (I only remember cos it was the year I met Mr Q), we took a cab from his place to mine. The cab driver was an African guy and he begged Mr Q if he could buy Mr Q's chunky mobile phone for £100, so he said yes. Weird!

I had huge phone bills around that period (ask BT)

I had a mahoosive Nokia!  First text was years later on a funky little blue Motorola which I dropped down the loo in a London club in the end and was gutted.   The text was to a guy named Jo and it said "Look what I can do"!

1250 quid was mine for 3 months I wont repeat how my mum reacted

Well I never saw my mum's bill but I certainly got my ear chewed!

I was peed orf at being nagged, when I was 22, I got BT to fix my own phone line. I think the latest quarter that I didn't/couldn't pay was £800 odd!

My bills were massive too!  I remember getting charged 50p a time if you rang someone and it went to voicemail!  I ended up with HUGE phone bill and a big broken heart!

I expect my first  was just "hi" to hubby just to test it!!

I send so few texts, I think I can remember them all.....

But I do remember the first one I sent; it just said, "thank you".

Great question, but I have no clue.  I resisted getting a mobile for years, I finally got one in 2002, and only because I was nannying and was scared the car would break down while I had kids in it. I wouldn't be without it now.
