Mine was a 7" single bought in 1979 when I was 12.
"King Rocker" by Generation X
And yes - not only do I still have it - but they are still my favourite band of all time and that very song has been my ringtone on my phone ever since I had one that would play MP3's.

I got my 1st CD player in 1992 and I bought 2 CDs at the same time - Seal's eponymous debut album and Michael Jackson's 'Dangerous' (just before he went a bit doolally). Sha-mone!

Before the CD player I bought Madonna's 'The Immaculate Collection' greatest hits on cassette. Blush

^Not a Record/CD, an album on tape cassette. I bought it for the song "Hip To Be Square" but
I like all the songs on it. Sadly, I don't have it anymore.
