i've had to battle to get the spongettes to refrain from hammering on my bedroom door til 8am...........they initially wanted 7am......i wouldn't mind but being 18 and 16 i thought i might have to drag em out of bed......instead it's the other way round!

given i'll probably get to bed around 12-1am after a few cheeky buds or ten....my hopes of sleeping in are gone

so........please tell me i'm not the only one who has over excitable kids/adults waking them up in a pressie frenzy?

It's 8am or the threat of death here.

I'll be up around 7.30 (which is an hilarious idea as I've had trouble getting out of my bed for months now! ) Nonetheless, I like a few minutes to myself before the onslaught, so one decent cup of 'cha should sort that.

I'll probably go to bed at around 2am and with the aid of a good 'anaesthetic' I should be asleep 15 minutes or so later.

Kids have been told they can get us up at 7 but its always earlier than that, in my mind 6 onwards. AS for tonight, i have been known to stay up too late and be hungover in the morning (usually when i have family staying) but this year im not, im gonna be a good girl So if anyone sees me posting after 11pm shout at me!

I just have to wait til the kids are asleep, haul out the pressies and then I can go to bed.  Not going to drink too much because I dont want a hangover but a few should help me sleep.

Well I'm hoping to be able to sleep anyway......I'm usually too excited!!  No idea what time the kids are gonna get up at though, hoping it'll be after 8.

Ells

Who knows???

If I say the kids are past getting us up at 5am then I'd be tempting fate..     Ickle got her brother up and then us up at 5am a couple of years ago...  though I doubt she'd be stooopid enough to do that again in a hurry.

There are no set times now this year...   I could go to bed now if I wanted ...  I BLOODY COULD!!  Wooohoooo!

but I won't.

And I will get up when I bloody well want to as well!

No... the 3am one was last year...

but it won't have been far off that..   I am usually wrapping til way past midnight

It was the year she knew she had her electric guitar coming...    she was a bit eager to get her hands on it    I could have killed her... it was the sneaky way she got Alfie up first, before tackling us

I always told my kids they could open up their stockings on waking and go into each others bedrooms but ............although they would run in and out to us with excitement - we wouldnt get up until 7.30 - the front room where all the pressies were was secured with ropes, belts, whatever! It was many years later they told us that they had a way of getting through the security . I guess they used to have a look and a squeeze but they wouldn't dare open wiothout mum and dad there.!

we are having a family debate about it now...

I put "not before 8am" out there...    everyone looked like they were gonna buy into it...   then the girl goes "oooh, perhaps 7am"

She's just got in from work!!!    Apparently she doesn't think she'll want to get up before 8am..   but wants the earliest possible time set for 7am..  "just in case"

Always best to negotiate an agreeable time IMO. As ours got older we always insisted on a cup of tea in bed before we'd even contemplate getting up!

I think my kids do too

I remember one year Mr Woo went to the pub - I'd been waiting and waiting and waiting for all three of them to fall asleep before I put the stockings in ..........................12.30 in rolled Mr Woo with some drunken pals and woke them all up - at 2am - I was fuuuuuuuuuuuuming. We went to bed and put the alarm clock under the pillow - set for 4.30 .....................we didn't wake up but they did screaming ...............he's not been yet!!! Nightmare year. From that year onwards Santa left the stocking outside the bedroom door and not at the end of the bed!

Love it sooz

We have already warned them (aged 22, 21 and 17) that Santa will be leaving the stockings outside their bedroom doors ... they'll probably have to step over them to go to bed

I know it's daft ... but I just love it when they come and sit on our bed in the morning to open their stockings

Never got the chance to do that. Mine were always laid out on the floor in front of the electric fire (off of course)   and stocking was firstly hung (empty) from the alarm clock, but when full, laid along the top of the mantlepiece

We never got to see our stockings before Christmas morning, when they appeared on the end of our beds, filled to bursting.

Funnily enough though, I  cannot for the life of me remember the sort of stuff that was in them ... I don't think it was satsumas and nuts, but I don't remember them being stuffed with toys and sweets.

I must remember to ask my mum tomorrow
