I've been meaning to ask why I can't see who's started a thread now. .before you had to hover over the thread starters avatar [annoying enough as that was] and it would tell you who it was, now it doesn't even do that anymore..

bit annoying when some change avis a lot and some may not be threads I wanna open like the good night threads etc. .   can we please have what all other forums have  ie the name of the thread/topic starter visible somewhere in the  list of topics..

yup hence my post

the whole of the topic highlights and no avi name pops up at all..

I'm on FF

Looks as if there's something a bit wrong with your browser as I'm on FF and it's fine for me.

Three options you could try.

One is to clear the browser cache. Tools - Options - Advanced - Network - click "Clear Now" by the Cached Web Content section. Then quit FF and go back into FF.

Two is via Tools - Add ons. Disable each Extension and Plug in in turn, quit FF and then go back into FF to see if that extension/plug in has caused the problem. If not, enable the Extension/Plug in and try the next work. That's a bit time consuming.

Third is Help - Troubleshooting Information - click Reset Firefox button. That will reset Firefox to its default state. Because that gets rid of any extensions or themes you have and your preferences will get reset to default, this option is the last resort.

El Loro

errrr thanks for the step by step El Loro, but I thought you knew I was pretty puter savvy.. you kinda have to be if you have a  degree in Computer Science...

I regularly clear my cache and there is no way I am going thru all my add ons to disable them to see which one is causing it because I use all my add ons so I wouldn't be turning any off any time soon.. it's probably my addblock pop up blocker and I ain't turning that off  and  there is no way I am setting FF back to the original default either..

I just thought seeings as you had an in to the PTB you could mention it was a glitch that I had found and it may be one others have with their forum format..  no worries if you are not in contact atm just thought I'd mention it in this thread as there had been mention of correspondence with them.. they may have seen it themselves and be able to change the display code a bit so the starter of a threads name shows.. like what they used to have before and like what 99% of most normal forums have.. the time of posting hover over thing doesn't work for me either..

it's only annoying when there's a thread with a  title that seem interesting only to find it's a bleedin good night thread.. or full of some random drunken ramblings.. I didn't use to open those when I could see who had posted them... anyway not to worry, BB will be over soon so I'll be reading a lot less threads again

Olly, if you were on the front page of the BB forum, then right click on the screen, select View Page Source you would see the coding behind that page. If you then do a search for Fluffy (for instance and is the first thread listed) you will see the line title = "Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing". As you probably know that's the necessary code for the text to appear over an avatar so I don't think it's a coding issue and if I reported it to the Social Strata people I think they would just come back with the advice I've given you

If you position your pointer over the following link you should see a little box appear "A link back to Ollie's post". The chances are you won't as you don't with the avatars.

El Loro
“Danger, Will Robinson!” is a catchphrase from the 1960s’ American television series Lost in Space spoken by voice actor Dick Tufeld. The Robot, acting as a surrogate guardian, says this to young Will Robinson when the boy is unaware of an impending threat. In everyday use, the phrase warns someone that they are about to make a mistake or that they are overlooking something. The phrase is also used in hacker culture.
