I have as much compassion for her as she had for the people she attacked and whose lives she destroyed.
Tony Blair is arguably indirectly responsible for the loss of countless lives leading us into a war that proved nothing but cost millions.

I still do not wish him dead , neither would I ever celebrate his death.

Personally, I'll raise a glass when she's dead that's not to say I wish death on her - that kind of sounds contradictory but there it is.

Sorry to sound cold hearted but we've all got to go sometime and she's had a good innings.  She didn't give a damn about those who suffered from her policies.  She was a narrow minded, judgemental, ideologically driven woman devoid of empathy and compassion.  A woman who had hang ups and a deep animosity towards the working class and those she deemed part of the so-called enemy within - usually anyone she judged as being on the left or having any left wing leanings.

I was glad when Fred West and Shipman topped themselves.  I'll be glad when Mugabe goes too.  I'm glad that Thatcher's 'dear friend' Augusto Pinnochet is in the ground.

I know Thatcher isn't on their level of evilness and she's just a frail old woman now slowly losing her mind so deserves some compassion, but I do think the country would have been a far better place if she'd never have been born.

They're about to do to the public sector what she did to the manufacturing industries.
Yeah well Pete--- just wonder how long those Unions are disbanded by them as well. Its a farce nowadays is Govt..... They are in it to win it and stay there on their high paid jobs---- Feck the voters we have 5 years to make our pensions as high as we can... Sickens me that a Govt can do this after milions of lives were lost in the 2nd WW to stop what would have been the same outcome this Govt is now doing.

She deserves the same compassion she showed for all the people whose lives she destroyed. In my book that's 'none'.
So what will you be doing to celebrate Prom?
How did she destroy your life or are you just jumping on the band wagon of lets hate Thatcher?

Oh and btw - I am in NO way a Mrs Thatcher supporter. I just don't like the attitude of celebrating someone's death because you don't agree with their policies thats all. Yes she did untold damage to people's lives. Yes she arguably destroyed whole communities but to me it is still wrong to compare her to murderers and worse.

When Mrs Thatcher does die, personally I will not give it a second thought either way. As someone else said, she has had a "good innings".
But I would never ever wish anyone dead.

I wonder if a similar webiste will be started when Tony Blair becomes elderly or infirm.  As Isadora said, whilst Margaret Thatcher undoubtedly caused misery for many, many people in this country, at least she isn't responsible for the death of countless thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians by sending British soldiers to fight an illegal war.

It's a fascinating subject. I've been a member of the Labour Party for a few decades and can remember crying along with everyone else on that terrible night in 1979. however make no mistake she was voted in continuously and inappropriately by many working class people. Like the current bunch of tories, there was no confusion about what the government would do to the north and the poor. I would feel a lot better criticising her if my party had done something to ameliorate the effect of disastrous right wing policy, but Twat Boy carried on in much the same way. Finally, a message to those of you coming out with the offensiveness. Please please don't come out with all the Happy Christmas and Baby Jesus bollocks later on. The hypocrisy would be toomuch to bear.

I hated her with a passion, but she is an old lady now and deserves to be left in peace and not villified.

To be fair, Thatcher's actions probably affected our parents the most, which would have had a knock on effect to our generation. People despise Hitler for his actions, not because of how it affected us individually, but because he was an absolute bastard. The same example could be used with Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, or the Taliban. Other's actions don't have to affect people personally for them to feel abhorred by what they did.

My take on the whole death thing, yes there are a couple of people I can't wait to hear have met their maker and I have my own reasons for that. Couldn't give a stuff if that makes me seem incompassionate. Don't wish it on Thatcher but I wont be crying into my pillow when she goes either.
