My favourite sandwich is cream cheese, banana and peanut butter in a crunchy baguette. Absolute heaven .....................many years ago there was a fabulous sandwich shop/restaurant in Croydon ............Gaywoods Continental - do you remember it Baz? I had one of the above sandwiches on the day of my wedding after having my hair done in a shop in St George's walk.

I'm sure that's an Elvis (and Nigella) extravaganza (that I won't be trying), although I did used to like a 'nana sarnie when I was a kid.

With sugar

I failed to survive on fresh air for lunch so we had egg mayo with crispy serano ham on very thick crusty bread.  Yum!

I like nana sarnies too, but it's better spread on a Greggs stottie (without sugar)

Only vaguely Soozy But my fave Croydon restaurant was a Swiss one ...but can't remember it's name

Baz

I know it's not all gourmet and fancy sounding but I do like a plain old ham and cheese sandwich these days.  Either hard cheddar or processed cheese slice with thick ham on normal white bread.

Or plain old corned beef.  I don't know many people who like corned beef.  I love it, I eat it straight from the pack as well as on simple white bread.

I remember a Swiss one in South Croydon ........................I keep thinking The Alpine but I may be getting confused with my fave restaurant near Harrow - (Bushey) that was called the Alpine.

Me too.. definitely with beetroot, in white bread       My boss's missus (she worked with us too)  wasn't allowed it at home (her hubby said it was like dog food) so any time I bought it for lunch I used to take her in a sarnie with it too and he'd said there screwing his nose up and telling her there was no snogging for her that night.
