I must have made a lasting impression, my current car is the limey green colour Fiesta (hence the av ) When I passed my test I had a powder blue and rust coloured Vauxhall Chevette estate.

First lessons were in a MK II Escort.
The driving school had Metro's and I used one of them for the test (failed twice before passing the 3rd time!) but I spent more time learning in my brothers old Hillman Hunter.
I never bothered buying a car when I passed as I worked in the motor industry and just used company cars when I needed one

My mil had a white Triumph Herald, soft top. The first time I went to Scotland from Germany in 1975, we borrowed the car (in winter), roof down and wrapped up all the way to Fort Williams. Great times.

It was, but it was great. I remember all the stops we made, especially Oban, Loch Lomond and Erskine Bridge.
Did anyone else have to do hand signals during their test? It sounds so ridiculous now.

No, I was tempted to, with some drivers, but I knew it would make me fail.
