Other than the normal, slightly boring way of cooking a cabbage, what else can you do with it? I have seen Stir fried cabbage with garlic and buttered cabbage. Do any of you have any ideas or tricks to make cabbage a bit more exciting?

Steamed cabbage, buttered mashed tatties, a good smoked bacon from the butcher, or better still, the meat off the soup bone and a dollop o` broon sauce.

Take one medium sized cabbage.
Throw it in the bin.
Eat chocolate.
Guaranteed to work out perfectly everytime.

I used to eat cabbage on its own (or was it lettuce ). Surely you could put it in a toasted sandwich or something?
chop it up with some smoked bacon or lardons or anything bacony and smokey . .
boil til cooked.. drain all but about an inch or less of the water out. .separately fry some onions in butter about 30g and when softened add flour as if making a roux. .about 30g worth.. mix in the onion and butter mix and cook out for a minute then add to the cabbage pot and heat and stir so it thickens the remainder of the water and the onions are evenly mixed thru. .season with pepper .. salt may not be needed cos of the smoked bacon/ham.. serve. .
if you want a sauerkraut type version add some pickled cabbage from a tin/jar or if you don;t have any of that then just add a small amount of the vinegar from a pickled cucumber jar or something like that. .not too much or it gets too sour..if it does add some sugar...
Not to everybody's taste but great served with huge continental type sausage ..either German bratwurst or Polish type boiling sausages who's name I've forgotten atm.. ..but it goes ok as a veg to normal British type dishes too..

Spice it up with mustard seeds, chopped green chillies and fresh coriander.

or buy some carrots and onions ..shred all of the veg add mayonnaise. .et voila .... coleslaw

Smarting, that sounds good, Although I have done parsnips and carrots with whole grain mustard and maple syrup, so don't want to add more mustard, but will give that a go sometime in the future! Thank you!

Eat it cook the cabbage and add orange juice to It in a pan with bacon and fry it.
That sounds nice! Might have a go at that meself if I'm allowed alone in the kitchen

If it is a savoy cabbage you could give it to a lady who has mastitis and she could put the leaves in her bra and the mastitis will improve. Strange but true.

It is completely true I have friends who have but they do tend to smell like compost heaps

Didn't work for me. Just after I gave birth and the milk came in I looked like Lola bloody Ferrari. Me mum came up to the hospital armed with these cabbages and I had loads of leaves sticking out everywhere. Despite walking around like something David Bellamy would find intriguing in a dark room it did nothing for the pain (and it was friggin painful).
(This is Lola Ferrari btw)
Boil the cabbage with some croutons. Throw in an oxo and leave to simmer on a low heat for 5 minutes. Drain and put some cheese and pickle on top and fry in butter and garlic. Throw in a bit of jam (or marmalade if you prefer) and add cornflakes (about 5 should be enough). Serve immediately to someone you don't like.

Thats just silly and OTT - FFs who heard of putting cornflakes on top - it should be porridge

Often very healthy but very tasty food! Lovely soups, try the Yum Kai (chicken lemon chilli and herbs). All time fave is the pretty much all of the seafood menu, especially Kang Khiew Wan Goong which is a green curry with prawns and aubergine
