Collie, Beagle, Golden Retriever, Scotty, Red Setter.

My brother had a husky Ditty, and kept him for only 6 months.. He was a lovely dog, but the constant hair-moulting became a nightmare, and all him and my sis-in-law were doing, was picking and hoovering up hair 2 hours a day.  It became too much, and unfortunately, they had to let him go.

Mongrels

GSD's or Belgian Shepherd Dogs

Retrievers

Irish Wolfhounds

Border Collies

Love most dogs but you can't beat a mongrel I think. My least favourite are the little zeleb accessory type dogs and pugs. Oh lord I can't stand pugs. it's the bulgy eyes, really makes me feel ill

( I have a bit of a bulgy eye phobia)

Im not a dog person at all, infact im terrified of them. Lately I have got to know not one but TWO dogs, and im actually quite fond of them.  One is a springer spaniel and i even bathed him (that's brave for me) ... he loves me   The other is a boxer and she just thinks im a walk over

I would have a dog, but would only consider a blue eyed Husky or a  Weimaraner

3. Neo mastiff (I like the mastiff family in general but Neo is my fav)

4. Rotty

5. Weimarner & Doberman (joint 5th)

avin?

Pfft. How common.

I'm quite fond of chocolate Spanadors and little black Labradors.

I love most dogs. I've had an Airedale Terrier, Boxer, 2 Rhodesian Ridgeback/English Mastiff crosses, 2 black labradors, 1 chocolate spanador and a Lab cross.

I suppose aesthetically I prefer the medium - large breeds, and I don't really get toy breeds, but I would never buy a dog from a breeder so I guess my favourite will have to be whichever had the most pleading eyes in the rescue centre.

ahhhh!

that'll explain why one of the Patterdale owners round here, didn't know her dog was a Patterdale..   she thought it was a really big Jack Russell

Veggie..   I agree about mongrels..     and so much better genetically.   We considered getting a cross breed/mongrel puppy from a rescue centre when we were getting AJ, but the kids were little and had never lived with a dog before (my son was terrified of them)..   so in the end I decided to go with what I know (Cairns)

Nooooooo! Spanadors and Labradoodles are cross breeds which means they are descended from two determinable breeds.  Mongrels can be descended from owt. I'm pretty sure our old Paddy was part donkey.

one of my friends had a litter of Shelties when I was a kid (her dog had the litter, not her personally )..    I fell in love with one of the little girl puppies, called her Lady and begged & begged my Mum to let us have her.     She wouldn't though (& with hindsight, she was right, our family dog, a Cairn, was in his senior years then, a new puppy would have been mayhem)..

but I cried & cried for days when she went to another home..     I even ran away, for about 3 hours, with a pack of hot dog rolls from the freezer, sat in the woods, with my half defrosted rolls feeling sorry for myself, then went home & nobody had noticed I had gone anywhere )

As the proud (but knackered) owner of a beautiful Border Collie, they must top my list!! Bryn is a big  bundle of fun and is slowly letting us train him....well, he has decided to do as we ask every now and then...the rest of the time he doesn't bother because he knows he is right and we are wrong!!!

I also adore Red Setters, Dogue De Bordeux, Goldendoodles and the stunning Husky x White Alsatian that lives near us....I want him to follow us home one day and never leave!! Mind you, Bryn has a girlfriend, Poppy the Goldendoodle and she is soooo clumsy but totally adorable that I have offered to swap dogs! His other girlfriend, Evie the Pug is in isolation at the moment as she has Mange (sp) and Poppy is in season and being kept at home so he has been tottyless for a couple of weeks, just as well he is getting his nuts lopped off on Monday!!!!
