And first person to say the GaGa forum gets a whack on the head. I've just finished Mr Murder by Dean Koontz. It was rather good

Hmmm, the films a bit poop to be honest. Acting is atrocious darling.

Latin and Marine Biology.
It seems like decades ago that we read IT. Fab book. But I wasn't keen on the TV film. It's often the case when they try to film a book. Gorky Park is one example IMO.

I'd imagine filming a book would be quite boring
Yes! That's a fair point. I'm sure Bunuel considered and then rejected the idea.

Warhol considered it too action packed.

Was he that Spanish filmmaker who filmed someones eye being sliced open?Reference:

Warhol was always a bit of a wet flannel
Yes! But he could have filmed Fernando Rey and a book. He might have been on a winner.

No it's just old and hasn't aged too well. A bit like a certain horror film some clown on here subjected everyone to not so long ago Reference:

I didn't subject anything darling! (in case you haven't noticed I'm trying to sound like a pompous arse). I merely 'suggested'. You were lucky, I almost did another 'Rawky Horror Show' last night for 'Anaconda', but that film is so dire that I didn't bother.........darling.

But seriously now...
I have just finished a fab book , semi autobiographical about nurse training in Leeds in the 1950s.
I thought it was great and couldn't put it down,
I am now reading one about nursing in WW2.
There is a theme here.,..

You should have done it . We could have revelled in the utter awfulness of it.Reference:

Good luck with that

Go for it. I'll be there. As an interesting aside, Anaconda is the name of a brilliant single by The Sisters Of Mercy who, incidentally, have not appeared in any horror films

That was almost a girly "why are you ratbags men ignoring me" flounce...
Except I am crap at staying affronted.
They aren't particularly great works of writing.. the first is called - Yes Sister ( oh er matron)
The second is called " A Girl Called Thursday". That is almost cheesy but it is set in Haslar in the second world war ( naval hospital in Portsmouth) and is about a VAD and her experiences there.
I love books about real people and in particular how they cope in times of adversity....
I'm currently deciding what to read next but I just finished the millennium series; girl with the dragon tatoo +, they were so good, utterly compelling!
I'm considering wuthering heights next, or a wilber smith book that my mum loaned me

The book I mentioned at the beginning of the thread (Mr Murder) was written by Dean Koontz who rates Richard Laymon very highly. I'd better go and read some of his stuff then. Any recommendations? Add Reply
