I've recently read The Winter Ghosts by Kate Mosse who wrote Labyrinth and Sepulchre. It was alright but was clearly a short story that had been fleshed out to make a book so was a bit disappointing. I've also been reading books by David Gibbins who is a marine archeologist and writes novels which I find really interesting.

I tend to reread books that I love too.

I love the theory "that's what happens" , they are quick to read don't you think, such simple books to read, but really get you thinking, The only one I've not got round to reading is Tuesdays with Morrie, I've just noticed he has another one out, "have a little faith" not sure if it's in the same vain, it looks a bit heavy to me.

All recent sunny, 2008 onwards. I tend to buy about 6 books at a time, but of late these are taking years to get through, I'm more of an ipod person these day, I have looked into gettting books as a podcast, but that's getting ultra lazy I guess.

yes, they are a quick read.. not sure about the 'have a little faith' either though.  I've read Morrie, five people and one more day ... loved them all

Which I think I have liked the best of all his books ... mostly because it's biographical. Well worth it Kaffy.

Looking for something mindless to read this weekend so picked up Angelology by Danielle Trussoni. To assuage the guilt I also bought The Prince of Mist by Carlos Ruiz Zafon - the bod who wrote 2 of my favourite books, The Shadow of the WInd and The Angel's Game.

I looked at Room but gave it a miss. I naturally recoil from that genre - have done ever since I was lent Flowers in the Attic many years back.

I will have a lovely Easter all on my own-some so plan to chill out, do sod all and read absolute crap - I'm dithering over getting another couple of Charleine Harris's Trueblood books. No effort required and easily disposed of in a few hours. Oh - and for those of you who have seen the TV series the books bear virtually to relationship to the TV plots at all.

Hi Cariad... you've misread your quote   It's RZB who's not read Tuesdays with Morrie.. I have and tend to agree.. it's his best (I saw the film first - that's what got me into the books)   I also liked Shadow of the Wind.. will have to look out for the other two.        (I like the sound of your Easter btw... sounds like most of my weekends )

Hi Squiggle

I love Joy Fielding, she writes books about things that scare women far more than horror scenarios. Kiss Mummy Goodbye is one of my faves but I also liked the one about the woman who was at a do with her husband when a woman he worked with came up to her and told her that she had decided that she was going to have an affair with the womans husband and take him away.  Can't remember what it was called but I found the story gripping

Oops sorry.

The Angel's Game is a sort of prequel to Shadow of the wind but can be read separately as the characters are different and only overlap slightly. Oddly enough I read both on 2 separate trips to Barcelona - wasn't planned as such but it did help reading it in the Barri Gothic.

Mother has just been on the phone trying to get me to stay with them for Easter. **snorts**As if...

Hi Veggie I loved both those books you mention.  I was on the edge of my seat with Kiss Mummy Goodbye and my daughter just would not read it as she felt it would be too upsetting.  And that other one, the bare faced cheek of that woman   it was called The Other Woman

This was recommended to me in a thread where we were discussing Bette - can't remember who it was but thanks - I'm halfway through and it's a great read.

A good insight into the lives of these two actresses and also a lot of other Hollywood greats who's paths they crossed back in the golden age of Hollywood

There are a lot of Historical drama's out in WHS at the moment. All off the back of the Tudors success, i loved Secrets of the Tudor Court, ( The tudor wife, Mary and Elizabeth (Emily Purdy) The red queen, (Phillipa Gregory) The people's queen (Vanora Bennet)

I seem to be making a collection of them, as they are buy one get one half price at the moment, and i can't resist every time i go into WHS.

Mary and Elizabeth, and Secrets of a tudor court i thoroughly enjoyed.
