They are very good live too.

I've seen them live a few times - dating right back to gigs in support of the debut single (Blow up) and mini-album (Mission Impossible) - amd Prisoners gigs prior to that.

I too have seen them live on a number of occasions. But many years ago. I have a family friend who is a big fan and also a fan of Prisoners.

I really enjoyed the whole acid jazz scene which JTQ got associated with by virtue of releases on the label.

I have this album and enjoy this early phase of Human League along with Dignity of Labour and the albums Travelogue and Reproduction.

Nice music selection.

Hi Enthusiastic Contrafibularities,  I have that album and it's a bit difficult to listen to in many places but still fascinating in others.  Less commercial than Travelogue and even Reproduction.  Which were great albums - as was Dare.  It all went to pot with Hysteria.  What I like about the early Human League is the sheer raw amateurishness and boffininess (is that a word?) of cobbling together some synths and somewhat pretentious lyrics and making arty/pretentious music that was never heard before nor will be heard again.

I have the album too Carnelian. When I first heard it I felt like they were a band experimenting, pushing a few boundaries and looking to develop ideas and find direction. I think Dignity of Lab our is not too far removed from the album we are discussing but with a bit more consistency. However I do like this album and there is enough on it to keep me going back.

Speaking of geeky boffin's, there are some great pictures and clips of the band. They do sometimes look like 1970's office workers (except Phil).

For me the best HL period was Travelogue, Reproduction and Dare, yes, Hysteria onwards I only found the odd tracks that I enjoy (but I do own all their albums).

I will be seeing them in December. No doubt we will be treated to many of their hits along with the now regular appearance of Being Boiled.
