Paul Weller.
I've become pretty-much addicted over the last couple of weeks to "Ellington at Newport" (the live recording of the Duke at the 1956 Newport Jazz Festival).
However I've just come across this slightly later version of the famous Paul Gonsalves solo...

Aw, you're welcome!
for all you adam fans comparing the voice to Barry White
This is one of those songs which has been around for ages, but for some strange reason it has passed me by only hearing it for the first time recently.
Genius is an often used word, so I won't use it here, but will say WHAT A GREAT TUNE.
For bonniekilty. A member for four months before she was banned but what an impression
Scotland's finest.
Boards of Canada - Macquarie Ridge
And I know how they got the name.
And I know how they got the name.
If I recall from an article I read a few years ago, they (the two brothers in the band) moved at an early age to Canada. There are also references to their name deriving from their love of films made by the National Film Board of Canada.
My big problem with this band is that they just don't produce enough music for me to buy. I have all their commercial albums on CD and have even hunted down some (unconfirmed) bootlegs. If you are reading this BoC, can you make your next release a 10 CD box set of new material - lol.
I agree EC.
The Merc ad probably opened them up.

My first experience of BoC was via the Warp label. I've always been a big fan of bands on Warp, so it was natural that I would have heard them at some point. In fact I would say I have been following a number of bands on the Warp label since they were a small label in Sheffield. I then used to visit their shop in the city centre. It's amazing how the musical road guides you. Always loved Cabaret Voltaire - Richard H. Kirk (a member) did some solo stuff on Warp and some collaborative work too.

Don't get me wrong Velvet, that song meanders along not really going anywhere in particular.
But I absolutely love it. Thanks for putting it up. Can I buy a CD? Off to search one out.
Up all night with Dotun Adebayo, he's been doing a virtual jukebox for years on the Sunday morning show.

I like him but he doesn't half try and trump whatever guests he gets on about so many subjects that he clearly only has a vague knowledge of! I find it's the quality of the guests that validates him.
I'd completely forgotten the Moody's did 'Go Now'! Much better lyrics and toon than that deliciously crazy 'Knights in White Satin'.
Oh yes! This has to be included in a music thread yeah?
He's the living UK Godfather.
Flawless
Dennis Bovell ain't bad either.
I love 'Nights in white satin'. One of the songs that remind you where you were the first time you heard them, I was 15 and it brought to mind this next one. It was played to a 15 year old me by the shores of a lake in the black forest.
Xochi,I agree with you,
I'd never heard the LKJ Forces of Victory before donks! Or if I had I'd forgotten! But that is perfect. Man. How many times do ya have to repeat 'It's just another piece of history repeating itself'.
Tight tune...going out to TartanMafia
