UB40 had a fantastic start but ended up being utter cod reggae crap.  It speaks volumes of the quality of their subsequent work that they toured their first album recently.

 

Try listening to Ali Campbell's last and abysmal solo effort of cod reggae covers to see how far an artist can fall.

 

Here he spits on, pees on, napalms, murders,  buries, dances on the grave of, and goes on to murder the family and friends of The Kinks' You Really Got Me

Personally I'd ignore Labour of Love, it's a pretty lame album of pedestrian covers of pop-friendly rocksteady/reggae tunes mostly done better by the original artists.  IMO
