^^ you introduced that song to me Velvet and it's become one of my - oh so many faves, lol. You just don't hear sounds like that these days
We don't hear songs with lyrics like this either, well not this side of the pond

It was the golden age Yella
The Lounge age. Clothes were great too
Love Glen as well
So I'm watching Channel 4 and they have this trailer for Misfits. The tune playing behind it is rather catchy. A quick input of the lyrics I hear produces the tune below. I've checked out the album it's from and it's only ÂĢ5.99 in HMV. That's my Saturday shopping sorted.
See, they do make the odd good tune these days.
I agree Velvet that for some of us there was a golden era of music but with music being so subjective others would make different choices For me voices like Sinatra, Glen, Andy and John Denver etc were/are so distinctive they're immediately recognisable. These days - with a few exceptions - I've often no clue who's singing unless I can see them as they sound so alike.
Also I can remember the lyrics of the earlier songs as soon as I hear them. I might recognise the music of some of the more modern songs but I couldn't sing along with them as I've not felt drawn to listen and learn the lyrics, I must have a selective memory
Here's just one of the distinctive voices I like
Right.
Which fecker nicked the music thread?
Who's got a Romanian granny?
It's alright.
I'll hum it
Fanks
A garage classic for Ditty
Here's one for me
The monster. His Mona Lisa...
