I agree Velvet that for some of us there was a golden era of music  but with music being so subjective others would make different choices  For me voices like Sinatra, Glen, Andy and John Denver etc were/are so distinctive they're immediately recognisable. These days - with a few exceptions - I've often no clue who's singing unless I can see them as they sound so alike.

Also I can remember the lyrics of the earlier songs as soon as I hear them. I might recognise the music of some of the more modern songs but I couldn't sing along with them as I've not felt drawn to listen and learn the lyrics, I must have a selective memory

Here's just one of the distinctive voices I like

So I'm watching Channel 4 and they have this trailer for Misfits. The tune playing behind it is rather catchy. A quick input of the lyrics I hear produces the tune below. I've checked out the album it's from and it's only ÂĢ5.99 in HMV. That's my Saturday shopping sorted.

See, they do make the odd good tune these days.

I'm still listening to this.
