I haven't been able to do mussels since Chris Evan's radio show on (I think) Capitol in the 1970s. He used to do a 'problem page'. One day, a young lady was lamenting the fact that she couldn't find her (ohhhh, I just can't say the word) 'important lady bit beginning with the letters Cl'.

I was at a supper party - we were having mussels as a starter. One bright spark held a mussel aloft and proclaimed that he had found the caller's thingy.

It's not that I don't like mussels - it's just that they have, well, connotations for me now

We are alllll done. SO we are going into town for the xmas spirit and will drink some mulled wine from the german market. Then we are coming home having a lovely xmas dinner (which i am cooking) then we are going out to see the xmas lights and midnight mass.  Then we are coming home to down some booze and well...you never know...santa might...come

I'm going over to my daughter's tomorrow just in case the weather throws another curve ball. Christmas eve, I'll be doing veg, while having a glass of wine and watching Dr. Who with my daughter and granddaughter. They will then go to midnight mass and my granddaughter's father's grave (it's his birthday Christmas day and he only died last year), she bought him a small christmas tree and  did a poem which is laminated. When they come back, the wee one (13) has to go to bed straight away because my daughter hasn't wrapped anything yet, so we'll do that and have a good chat. My kitten is coming with me and will be reunited with her sister (God help us ) The duck and turkey will go in to slow roast and we should be in bed by 2. Thank the Lord the wee one doesn't emerge nowadays until about 9 or 10.
