In a prepared statement they said, "God gave Whitney Houston a beautiful singing voice and a world-wide platform, which she should have used to encourage obedience to His Word and warn the wicked that their rebellion brings destruction from the hand of God. Westboro will picket her funeral to warn the living: "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."

Haven't seen any of the other speeches so maybe they were all that long.

Yes it was a bit long Veggie, nice speech by Kevin tho. A bit too much about others tho and not so much about Whitney IMO. It seemed to be about how Whitney was with THEM and not about Whitney as HER, if you get what i mean. I got the feeling that nobody knew her really well, and that was sad................x

Thanks Skylark. I wasn't sure as I didn't see the rest of the service. It's a shame when you're left with the impression that no one knew the person who died.

I had a friend like that. When she was alive we always used to say "Will the real Maria please stand up" as you always felt that you didn't know her.

What bugs me about religion is that there are different rules depending on which country the religion comes from ???? I believe in science as to the worlds origins and evolution and religion only seems to have screwed up the fact entirely.

Just my impressions Veggie, but sad. Heard a lot on the news about her being a lesbian etc, perhaps she kept all that quiet, who knows?? Whitney was a troubled soul, for whatever reasons. Just hopefully she is at peace now x
Shame about your friend, Veggie, but sometimes thats how some people are..but its the people left behind that try to work it all out......x

What? In the bath?

One is reminded of Mo Mowlam and her surprise at people who would go that extra mile to be offended. Not only have people treated these nutjobs seriously but they have also introduced them onto our Forum.

Not all who call themselves christians are actually Christian.  No true Christian would behave like these people.

True squiggle thats why I said ..so called ..if they were true christians they would show compassion.

funny skylark - I really didn't see it that way at all.   Kevin did ramble on about himself a lot at the start of his speech, but he seemed to be trying to show WHY they bonded (he must have been about the only white person there)  and the end of his speech was so touching.  Everyone else just seemed to be recounting what she meant to them... and they seemed to be talking about a totally different person to her public persona.. the whole thing seemed very 'personal' to me.. they were talking about the friend, the family member and not the singer.   I never knew how religious she was.   The Winans seemed to be family to her, (BeBe choked me up) and Alicia Keyes obviously cared about her so much.     I wasn't even intending to watch  - I turned on to see if I could see anyone arrive and the choir was singing and I thought 'this might be worth listening to' and in the end I found the whole thing very touching.    Even if Bobby did bugger off before it even started because they wouldn't let him seat his nine strong entourage in the family pews...
