I think I am ashamed to say I once had a shell suit

Back in the days when Hot Pants hit the streets my mum would not let me and my sisters get them. We were most upset. After a while she relented and bought us a pair each - FAWN CORDUROY!!!!

They were awful - but we hadn't the heart to tell her after all the pestering we had done.

Fluffers ... my sister and I wanted corduroy levis ... my mum got us fawn, nylon bellbottoms from M&S which did up on the side with a big gold button with an anchor on it.

Like you - we felt we had to wear them ...

Rexi

Brown knitted dungarees, with a lovely yellow trim, and yellow jumper with brown trim to wear underneath.  My mother made them for me   Although I don't want to include stuff I was forced to wear by my mother.  But I will admit to having A LOT of electric blue stuff in the 80's, which included eye liner and mascara

2 things I will fess up to are hareem leggings (baggy MC Hammer style crotch) & puffball skirt..   however it wasn't my fault..    they were actually in fashion at the time & I was young..

Gotta laugh cos the MC Hammer pants seem to have made a come back..    daughter has a pair, she bought them but has never worn them cos MrD & I just take the piss mercilessly!

Post the pic, we need to see the evidence, Aims.

Cinds when I was young, I had short, very curly hair and my mum used to dress me in pale blue (a lot!). Old women were forever calling me "son".

Don't even get me started on my first year Senior photo and the photo.  I remember I cried when I left the hairdressers after seeing what my Mother had instructed them to do to me

In fact Mr Cinds raked THAT very photo out to put on a collage poster he had made for my 40th birthday, and I told him in no uncertain terms if that picture went on the poster I would not be attending my party.

Yogi, when I was really young I kind of liked it, but once I hit Senior school age that all changed.

When I was about 10 I started to grew my hair long - no more "son".

I had one too! It was blue but I can't remember what colour it turned. I really liked that T shirt!

I had a particular skirt in the mid 80's, it was bright orange with black splatters all over it.  God it was vile.  And too many more to remember, my taste has at times been horrific O.o

gawd.. if we are gonna do childhood hairstyles....

I remember my mother having a "pageboy" cut..     she must have loved it..    loved it so much she decided my brother & I had to have them too!

Its bizarre when I think of it..    I couldn't imagine wanting my kids to have the same hair as me!

The green embroidered flared jeans & wombles t-shirt could have been a good look on us kids..  I suppose a touch of hippy to counteract the Pans People hair..    but any positive attributes of the ensemble was destroyed by the fact that she made us both wear identical womble t-shirts & embroidered flared jeans on the same day!

Growing up in my family was like being in The Griswolds..    my did love to get us all matching t-shirts..    I finally rebelled when on the norfolk broads one summer my Dad tried to get me to join in & wear a tacky captains hat with the rest of them..     it was the time I went on holiday with them

That's what you get when you make your kids wear itchy Rupert Bear trousers & refuse to buy your daughter normal knickers rather than the terry towelling nipple warmers she thought were best for me!
