Being stupid i assumed most people go into jobs like hers as a vocation rather than for the money, seems I was very wrong in her case....she didn't do her job, she no longer has her job...tough....go away you pathetic woman..

I'm of two minds on this. She didn't inflict those horrid injuries, her mother and partner did. And no amount of time served will ever make up for the fact that they killed that little boy.
According to some reports, the mother and her partner hid a lot of his injuries from the social workers. The grandparents and the boy's natural father all had regular contact with Baby Peter and failed to pick up on his injuries. How can we really blame an overworked and stressed social worker for not picking up on the injuries?
Then, on the other hand we have the Emergency doctor who failed to pick up on the fact that Peter's back was broken and sent him back home. That is as outrageous as the social worker who failed to remove Peter from the home.
The real culprits are and will always be the mother and her partner who tortured and abused him.

I firmly believe that if someone is prepared to accept a great salary for their role in running a department, accept the praise when things go right, then they should also accept the criticism and consequences when things go wrong.
It's tough luck for her that she feels as if she has been victimised because of her departments failings, but it's nothing in comparison to what that defenceless child had to endure for months.

That's exactly what I said to OH when I heard it on the news at teatime
So many people failed, will we as a society fail to change.
Maybe we should be nosier neighbours, and stop relying on excuses. 'Things must be alright, the social worker goes regularly', or 'No I don't think we should say anything, I know the nan/grandad and they're good people they'd have noticed if something is wrong'.

She wants to thank her lucky stars that I'm not running this country or every single professional who failed that child (including her) would be on trial for reckless endangerment or something similiar.
