I am! Tell us all about it.
What do people want to know? I don't really know what to say cos I do really assume that no one is interested

Oooo congratulations SazBomb Hope it all goes well and that you have a wonderful day .
You know what, I feel a bit cheated by the whole dress experience... you see on TV girls going with their mum/friend etc and everyone crying when she tries on a dress and just knows it's 'the one'. I didn't have that
I'd looked in some magazines for ideas before I went to a shop, and while I didn't have an idea of what I wanted, I had very clear ideas of what I didn't want Once we had eliminated all the things I don't like (too poofy, too fitted, too lacy, too fussy ) then I tried a few on and narrowed it down to about 3. But I just went for one of them - in the first shop I had been to, I dunno if I should have looked more places but I am really indecisive so if I gave myself more options it would have just got overwhelming and made choosing harder But yes, I didn't get the moment of the dress 'finding me' or knowing it was the one or anything

Thanks Baz
Also, the dress shop had an offer that if you got your dress on your first visit, you got ÂĢ100 off an accessory, which may have swayed my decision
Headpiece purchased for ÂĢ30, bargain (not a veil, me and mam both felt it wasn't 'me')

Tbh, you can look at too many dresses until your head aches and you still might never get that magic moment. I'm sure you will have chosen something which suits you and you'll feel comfortable in and that will make the dress "yours" - if you know what I mean?

Church, registry office or other?
Traditional or modern?
Large or small gathering?
Bridesmaids?
And anything else you want to share.
I had the misfortune of having my wedding the year after Lady di got married in THAT dress... everywhere you looked there were versions of the thing..
Then I was thumbing thru a pattern book and saw a Nina Ricci pattern for an evening dress a la 40's stylee.. .not waisted just panels and in silky satin. . was off the shoulder but with sleeves [top half nekkidness frowned upon in those days] and a smal stand up lace effect along the cut out top and sleeve part.. bought the pattern and got the dress made with a bit of a train and a short cocktail length version in black for the evening. .job done..
dunno what I'd have done if it hadn't suited me once it was made
anyways Missus. .I remember years ago chatting to you on the old dog an bone and telling you to have faith and believe in yourself and you'd find the one. .and look, you only went and did it!!! Go you!

Exactly - I hate having too much choice... I've just been buying carpets and ended up buying from the smallest shop because it had less choice! I'm sure the dress will be perfect.
Congrats Saz
Congratulations SazBomb early wedding present >
May you have a wonderfully happy future together !!
Congrats Saz
Saz, if you're anything like me you'd end up in a hundred shops, trying on every dress in sight and THEN going back to the first shop you'd been to and buying the first dress you liked there. It's always the way so you've just saved yourself hours of stress.
Congrats and good luck with the big day x
What's the cake like?!

Congratulations Saz, hope you have a fab day and a happy ever after

So long as it's just the dress you're talking about, it'll be fine
Ok people that asked things that required a longer answer, I will reply properly tomorrow - I'm not ignoring you!
i will say that I think choosing the cake was the best bit I haven't been hugely fussed about planning so have had a laid back kind of approach - not wanting to overwhelm myself really I think. I'm not worried about things not running to time, or not being exactly right - as long as the registrar turns up! The main thing is we will be married by the end of the day, the rest is just details really, that's what I keep telling myself when I have a stressy moment
oh, and sorry Rawky

Going to go through and try and answer all the questions from yesterday now
Colour scheme - royal blue (built the whole thing round my shoes )
Favours - wasn't going to bother then saw these cute bags in John Lewis with mini packs of love hearts in. They were too expensive but found the bags somewhere else and got a bulk load of sweets off Amazon So far just love hearts but B's parents are also bringing baclava and a traditional middle eastern charm to keep away the 'evil eye' (bonus, it's blue!)
They don't have them yet, but that's basically what they look like
Table decs - tables are pretty small, I dunno how to describe the centrepieces, I'll try to find a pic Tealights if they will fit, and scatter crystals
Cake - still my fave bit of the whole process (except possibly the shoes ) 3 tiers (square) all different flavours (decisions are HARD! ) Bottom is chocolate with orange buttercream/icing/whatever is in the middle of the layers of sponge, middle is carrot and top is traditional fruitcake Do you want to know how it's decorated too, cos ive just drifted off to the memories of the cake tasting... om nom nom
Hymns - not a church wedding, so none
Flowers - hmmm, I can't remember what the florist said the names of the flowers were. Avalance roses, something else white, and something blue (but not a delphinium because they are very fragile!
Cars - not having cars, staying at the venue the night before. I felt paying ÂĢ500+ to travel 12 miles was outrageous
Photos - have a photographer on the day, should be fun with a load of people who hate having their photo taken
Hair
Shoes
Rings
Groom suit/Kilt /other .
Honeymoon
Thank you
Hair - errrr not decided yet I went for a trial, but can't decide between 2 styles
Shoes - I said to my dad 'omg aren't they just the best shoes you've ever seen in your entire life?!' he was like, no
Rings - plain bands, platinum for me to match my engagement ring, and white gold for him cos it was cheaper and he was horrified at the price of platinum
Groom suit/Kilt /other - grey suits, not the long morning coats cos I think they look like undertakers It's light grey silk, royal blue cravat and hanky thing, groom has a silver waistcoat, everyone else has grey to match the suit.
Honeymoon - we're having a little break now and then maybe a longer beach holiday in Jan when it's cheaper. I'm scared of flying and would be stressed on the day if I knew I had to fly the next day so we are travelling back down to London with his parents, leaving them at his uncles then getting the Eurostar to Paris for 3 days, then down to Cornwall for 3 days He likes Paris, I like Cornwall everyone is happy
Congrats Saz
Thank you
Thank you
I did apologise
What's the cake like?!
Congrats Sazbomb, yes we do want to know everything.
Theme?

I think I got all of these except maybe theme and I don't think there is one really Oh I forgot there were bits of silver going on with the blue too, not a huge amount (was reading a magazine in the dentist and apparently they are the 'on trend' colours this year, I'm unintentionally fashionable!) There are some heart things - place cards, one on invitation, menu, cake - it's not overkill honest, even though it sounds like it there!!
Congratulations Saz, hope you have a fab day and a happy ever after
Thank you
The heart things... we got these half price in John Lewis, they're supposed to be print at home invitations, but we thought we could print menus on them:
Then we (I) found the place cards to match, which go on the glasses. Great as there isn't much room on the tables so trying to have as little 'clutter' as possible:
Hoping that's not overkill
omg I forgot the pic of the shoes in that other post
There is no emoticon to describe what I am feeling about the shoes There is a high heel version too (featured in the Sex & The City movie) and I think I did prefer it to look at, but I never wear heels so I tried it and was wobbling about the shop Went for the flat so I can be comfortable all day, and not taller than B Plus they're still beautiful
edit, and they're my something blue
