mine does that and it really winds me up

my old one just stayed on, the boiler bloke said it turns off when the room the thermostat is in reaches the right temp it turns off so downstairs might be the right temp but upstairs hasn't reached the same temp

5 minute hail storm at lunchtime covered everywhere white
glorious sunshine again and everything back green in the garden

Still cold, but lots of bright sunshine today.
Just been out on the bike, and we had everything sun, snow, and rain. The trees think it's spring though. Our favourite, and source of my world famous confitures, wild plum tree is just coming into blossom.

Light wafting of snow this morning that disappeared and had flurries all day but nothing significant. Flippin cold again though

It's full-on snow now and it's lying. It doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon either!

Further Update:
So, it snowed for 2 1/2 hours. It was big fluffy flakes for the 1st hour and a half and reached 4 to 6 inches in depth, then it got lighter and the flakes got smaller 'til eventually it was light drizzly rain and the snow started washing away. However a wee while ago it had turned to sleet. Now it's doing nothing, but the sky is very heavy.
Exceptionally cold at the riverside!
A light dusting of icing sugar - nothing to be concerned about.

It hasn't rained for several hours. I'm concerned that we may have a drought later on.
Just gone 6am and a gritter has just gone up the road. No new snow though - yet. 
Chucking it down with snow here in Oxford. Looks like about an inch has laid. This wasn't forecast
