This has gone on for years... now that it happens to be uniteds best player everyone pipes up how wrong the system is? Bullsh*t.
He has a wife and small child in the home.(sky news 22.45 thurs)
That was followed by around 40 balaclava-clad United fans unravelling a banner outside the striker's Wilmslow house declaring "Join City and You're Dead",
I bet Crocky Santa Cruz is part of them... "Don't you dare take my place on the bench you b*stard!
Im sitting on the fence here... if he plays like he has done recently then I wouldnt go near him, bit of the same for Torres. Alot of talk about wanting Torres or Rooney in, both injury prone and out of form... both also have a huge price tag.
Looking at your front line, yes you have goals galore in Anelka, Drogba and Lampard... but those 3 are what, like 32 years old. What happens when they are finished? Is Daniel Sturridge really the future of Chelsea for the next 8 or so years?
Yeah you could maybe go for someone like Pato, but what if he turns out to be another Robinho? Rooney is young, but proven in the Premier League and Champions League, so no problems with him adapting to the game. What more could you want?
Personally I don't think you will get him, I think he'll go abroad, but I cannot for a minute understand why any Chelsea fan wouldn't want a player like Wayne Rooney.
Greed and stupidity should never be rewarded.
I don't care how good Rooney is or isn't..... he does not need to be paid that much.
And that is the same for any footballer.
I hope he's an absolute disaster for them (sorry Mr Meat I'm aiming this at the player not the club).
Muppets... bet their back in school today
Nice... watch the fans switch the "White Pele" mode back on
Wayne Rooney has agreed a new 5 year contract to stay at Manchester United until at least June 2015.
The agreement follows intensive discussions between the Club and the playerâs representatives and means that by the end of his contract Wayne will have been a Manchester United player for 11 years.
Sir Alex Ferguson said: âItâs been a difficult week, but the intensity of the coverage is what we expect at Manchester United. I said to the boy that the door is always open and Iâm delighted Wayne has agreed to stay.
âSometimes, when youâre in a club, it can be hard to realise just how big it is and it takes something like the events of the last few days to make you understand. I think Wayne now understands what a great club Manchester United is.
âIâm pleased he has accepted the challenge to guide the younger players and establish himself as one of Unitedâs great players. It shows character and belief in what we stand for.
âIâm sure everyone involved with the Club will now get behind Wayne and show him the support he needs to produce the performances we know he is capable of.â
Wayne Rooney said: âIâm delighted to sign another deal at United. In the last couple of days, Iâve talked to the Manager and the owners and theyâve convinced me this is where I belong. I said on Wednesday the Managerâs a genius and itâs his belief and support that have convinced me to stay.
âIâm signing a new deal in the absolute belief that the management, coaching staff, board and owners are totally committed to making sure United maintains its proud winning history â which is the reason I joined the Club in the first place.
âIâm sure the fans over the last week have felt let down by what theyâve read and seen. But my position was from concern over the future. The fans have been brilliant with me since I arrived and itâs up to me through my performances to win them over again.â
What ever next?
Do you think Ian Holloway convinced him?
The past few days have shown that Mr Rooney has ideas way above his station and I am surprised and disappointed in Alex Ferguson pandering to his pathetic childish tantrum. It does not set a good precedent for the future of English football when someone like Rooney can hold to ransom a manager like Sir Alex and a club like Manchester United and end up the winner.
