I don't understand the point. Football careers are based on a series of lucrative contracts. Your striker may be scoring a goal and kissing his badge, but as soon as his agent sniffs money from elsewhere he's offski. They constantly seek to improve their position and maximise their earnings. The only sector to show loyalty are the fans

He is a greedy thick little oik who if he goes to City deserves every bit of misfortune career wise.

Sorry but this is not about sport anymore - this is greed - pure and simple.

I am new to this football lark but in my opinion Man City management are just a load of sharks - building a team by relying on greed and ignorance.
Throw money at them and they will come.  And this is not how a team is made - you can relate that to real life. Too many egos, too many people wanting to be top. Nobody really caring about the team or the greater good - all about ME ME ME.

Well I hope hope hope that it all back fires on them. Even if they win everything going, it will NEVER ,make them the best, just the luckiest.

Sorry Mr Meat but this is just not what football should be about to me.

On the other 'and - to plat devil's advocate a tad - whilst I agree with the daftness of footballers wage packets, at the end of the day it is a job.  Most of us will have had several different jobs in our lifetime and not signed up somewhere when we were 20 and stay there till retirement.  Why should football be any different?

Too many people are jumping the gun here. Nobody knows yet what his reasons are for not signing the contract. He may not have fallen out with Fergie but might privately resent his handling of his loss of form. Wait and see. If he goes to City yes it's all about money and he deserves all the abuse he gets.

In other news Chelsea winning 2-0 against the Russian numpties f*cking get in

TBF, it will.  Man U have bought there fair share of expensive world stars.  So have Barcelona who arguably have a stronger regional identity than most.  Great Real Madrid side of the 50's - they never though twice about obtaining the services of Di Stefano and Puskas.

I dislike Lancashire teams as much as you do but TBF Manchester City  do seem to have a measure of success attached.
I just hate unfairness and this team have not built up anything, just bought players in..

*sulks* It's just not fair
My late Dad who was a huge football fan would have been saddened by this Man City lark

What a load of horse sh*t, other clubs have been doing this for years... Man Utd and Chelsea went about it no differently to make/keep their clubs successful.

Man Utd transfers in: Djemba-Djemba, Bellion, Howard, Ronaldo, Kleberson, Saha, Smith, Heinze, Rooney, VDS, Ji-Sung, Mikel, Vidic, Evra and Carrick.

Chelsea: Ballack, Kalou, Shevchenko, Mikel, A.Cole, Essien, SWP, Del Horno, Carvalho, Robben, Drogba, Cech and Ferreira.

Its pathetic trying to place the blame on City when its not our club offloading players for huge prices. Clubs know they can stick a huge price tag on a player when Utd are setting a prime example of selling Ronaldo for ÂĢ80mil. If you think this all started from Manchester Citys spending, you are wrong.

And green and ignorance? I don't think you will find another team in England that plows more money into its youth system than us. We have young players coming through alot and recently some are getting first team action.

To be fair, I am still learning, and I didn't know any of this so apologies..

Right - I am not liking football anymore - I am going back to sensible hobbies.

I'm my club til i die, but if I played for them I'd have no hesitation in leaving the club, moving on, playing and scoring against them. Doesn't mean I'd stop being a supporter of them.

As for Rooney, like I've said in the footie thread, I don't think he'll go to City. I don't believe that they'd be his first choice club and I don't think Man United would want to sell to one of their title rivals.
Fergie has been a long time admirer of Karim Benzema - He's not really made it at Real. I think Rooney will be sold to Real Madrid and Benzema will come in the opposite direction as part of it.
Crunchy Nuts
I think both Fergie & Rooney are both trying to be clever here.

Rooney hints he wants to leave though hasn't actually come out and said it on camera, the press get hold of it, so Fergie annouces it in a press conference to maybe force the pressure on Rooney to dismiss or confirm it.

This means either Man Yoo give Rooney a big pay raise for him to stay though they probably can't afford it or they start a bidding war between Man City, Real Madrid, Chelsea and maybe Barca.
