Personal opinion and for what it's worth from observation... I read more than I post as I don't have an opinion or interest in some posts lol, BUT, Fluffy is a good canditate as far as I'm concerned. When Seattle hand over the reins to Mods I think it will need more than one to cover the shift. I've no idea who may have volunteered but I hope Fluffy is in the running.

Fluffs always was very helpful imo.on BBGF it wasn't the first time she was on hand to advise about techie things for myself and others.On a personal level I'd have no problem whatsoever with her modding but overall I feel it is a bad bad idea for a FM to become a mod,

I know I joked earlier in the thread but I really think it should be someone NOT connected to this forum who does it. I don't think it's fair to ask any of us to do it. Is there anybody here who can truthfully say they'd be 100% unbiased if it was one of their friends who needed a telling off or got reported? There is a lot of history here...good and bad and because of that I don't think any of us should do it. Has anyone actually said why it's needed yet btw? 

FWIW, I still think it is a bad idea to have an FM as a Mod. I don't think anyone could be 100% impartial

Maybe we don't not a mod at all, how often are the mods actually here and yet we run along quite smoothly 

The mods might be here a lot of the time just keeping an eye Aimee but not interacting or intervening unless called on.

I still feel exactly the same as I did when this topic was first started.  For various reasons, I can't think of any existing FM who I would feel comfortable with as a mod.  There are a couple of FMs here who I would trust with my life, but I still think it would put them in a very difficult position to have to moderate the actions of friends on a public forum like this - they would always be open to allegations of favouritism.  There is also the issue of all the history with C4 which goes back years - some people have very long memories and hold grudges for a long, long time.  Whatever people might like to think, there are very clear friendship groups on this forum, and I don't think it is possible to always act impartially where friends are concerned. 

I think that one of the reasons that this forum has worked well is that it is moderated by complete outsiders, who have no idea of all the past history, the multiple IDs, and who used to indulge in some quite unpleasant trolling on C4 and other places.  Whilst I do accept that people can change and grow up, I wouldn't have faith that any of us could make a completely balanced judgment knowing what has happened in the past. 

I've also seen a number of people expressing concern that the number of FMs on here is dwindling and wanted to encourage new members.  Whilst I personally prefer a small and more intimate forum, I appreciate that others would like some new members, but I think that appointing a mod from within the existing FMs would make some people consider their future on this forum quite seriously.  I really don't think I could stay here if one of the FMs became a mod, and I suspect that other people would feel the same.  The mods in Seattle have always done a superb job in moderating this forum, and I would be surprised if it really takes that much time.  Is it really necessary to make changes? 

Exactly that, Cags.... and even if they WERE being unbiased, which I think is a hugely tall order even for the most well intentioned of us, you can bet your boots there'd be someone, somewhere thinking that they weren't.    

I'd also quite like to know why this has come up and why there's no further comment from Seattle.    I think it's all a bit unsettling tbh

Yes Kaffy, I think it only fair that Ted or someone come back and put an end to all the speculation.  Why aren't they (Ted and co) posting to let us know what's going to be happening?
