Washington Hall.....it sits among a very modern housing development.....suburb of Sunderland now

We were taken there from school.....for a bit of American History....not that we paid much attention at the time😂

Talking of staircases....Do you remember the old dept store in Kingston market place? It had a Jacobean staircase that was removed when the shop closed  and was modernised

It was a bit tatty when we moved down....went when they redeveloped the riverside with very expensive flats set around a piazza with restaurants leading onto the Promenade

I’ve not been into the town centre for about 40 years .....although did drive through it on the bus when I took my friend to Hamilton Court 4 years ago
