There were other ones after that ….I remember another one in the late 50s …..the smog was so thick , and yellow …that my school bus had to give up cos it was too dangerous to drive any further ….so we had to walk the last 2 miles ….and honestly , you couldn’t walk in a straight line cos it was so disorienting …you started off on one pavement , and ended up on the other side of the road ….and you couldn’t breathe properly either .

When we came back we were in the NE….never got smog there, but often got sea fogs….but they weren’t harmful
