I think they go back even further than that Cologne.... from memory
Admittedly, I was totally green when I arrived at the shores of Caledonia.  I remember going to the butchers in Paisley and asking for links. I had no idea, my useless Scottish husband did not help. TBF, I was chucked into the deep end (pregnant and all) and had to cope, which helped me with the language and the understanding of people.

I kind of liked them and the other thing I used to 'cook' was that fake bolognese soya stuff, I forget what it was called, but my kids loved it (by the time I had changed it into oblivion).
I loved tinned spag bol but my children thought it was rank but we can't get it here......but I have a new fad..toast toppers they are lush....

and what about Heinz ravioli? anyone like that
I didn't know anything better until I took a truck full of furniture and the guy who owned them from Germany to italy. Long story very short, I ended up with the Italian mamma and she cooked the most delicious home made ravioli. Just spot on. I stayed for 4 days, just for the cooking.

Beanfeast!!!! God I remember that!
Batchelors Beanfeast - I had some for my dinner yesterday   they do a chilli version now as well.

My brother used to love Beef Vesta curry along with Findus crispy pancakes and those Sunday roast dinners for one that you used to pop in the oven (I guess you can microwave them now)
