I have an outlook on Valentines Day.

One should completely ignore Valentines Day, don't spend any money on overpriced flowers and meals. Do buy cards or other VD related items, no ignore the day completely.

What you should do.

Is to show the one you love how much you love them on the remaining 364 days. Being told by card companies that you should show love on a particular day is nowhere near as genuine as spontaneous acts of love to your partner.

EC loves you all today… but not tomorrow.

I hate it!  It's all a bit show of how much your OH has bought you so that means how much they love you.

NO!!

Most years we say we're not buying anything because 1) we have a home to run and kids to see to and 2) it's novelty crap or overpriced flowers.

And it's my Mums birthday so I just buy her some nice things instead of buying to my OH

Ells

It's my daughters birthday tomorrow too. I always feel a bit sorry for her as it's not an easy night to celebrate a birthday as it's all given over to Valentines day. Me and Mr Woo will exchange cards and I may get flowers.

My daughter is single ..............I do feel for her a bit as it's bad enough having your birthday highjacked but even worse if you've no one to spend it with.

Never mind - she's off to New York (work) on Monday and is excited about that. Her friend is flying out to join her on the last day of the conference and she is staying on for three days. I'm excited for her.

I celebrate Valentines day by encompassing my family like the Americans do. It's all about everyone that I love, not just my OH. On Saturday, I will be making a lovely meal of Hunters chicken, new pots. and sweet corn, followed by fresh fruit and cream meringues, We will be sharing this meal with the Grandson who is 11, and I have bought both of them a box of Maltesers as a token gesture.

New York - Fantastic.

Your daughter should choose an un official birthday and have a celebration then. Sometime in the summer would be good.

Newton Abbot is a lovely place. I bought an African artefact there. I'm sure you know the place.
