Yay! Well done Rio I'm really pleased he's doing so well! I feed my elderly but lively bunnies a cranberry & something single pellet mix from pets at home, it's for mature wabbits. They also have the herbage hay with dandelion in, the vet said these alone will provide them all the nutrients they need and anything else wasn't vital. I sometimes give them veg but limit that so they don't get upset tummies, and one of them likes to eat bird food off the floor level feeder They also go nuts for carrot biscuits treats, they get one each a day

Oh yea and I give him the wild bird feed mix too.Which is basically the seed heads of various grasses whatever he eats he gets...it's keeping him alive.Oh he loves fresh dandelions, alas in short supply this time of year.I'm going to be so upset when he "goes".The vet stated if he's peeing more than normal.he is a bit,it might be his kidneys failing. However i just think he's lazy and can't ne arsed to hop onto his litter tray so pees on the newspapers I have laid in front of it.sigh!

It's years since we had bunnies as pets, Katty but I still remember one of them being very partial to Madeira cake   Not quite what was specified as a dietry requirement... but he lived to a ripe old age of 7.

As for correct diets, we did similar as you when our dog got old.  All the health kicks in the world wasn't going to stave off the inevitable so we fed him like a king.  He'd always been given the best, but when he became finicky in his old age we went with it.

awwww Katty...     I was really really worried that this was going to be a sad thread...

but its not!!

Good old Rio!

I can imagine how you must be feeling though Katty...   I've just had a taste of it myself with the dog...    I know you must be trying to prepare yourself for the inevitable..     But its so nice to hear that he's in good health at the moment...   and even better to hear that you are indulging him in his twilight years...

He's a lucky lucky bunny...

I am so sorry katty

I have wrecked his cage etc..and I   don't want any more bunnies! My heart says maybe,my brain says no! Rabbits are complicated creatures, they come with their own health problems etc.People, please don't even think of giving baby bunnies etc as presents at Easter time, alas they are the most dumped pets.Bunny rescue centres are overwhelmed  with them.

I am exactly the same!       I can't even watch the adverts on telly for the animal charities without getting choked up.     I can watch all sorts of gore & destruction in films if its people..  but any animal distress & I have to insist we turn over (that includes nature programmes)...

Lassie is a huge no no for me...    & I wouldn't even contemplate watching Marley & Me
