He would have been… “You want it, take it. Take Poland too…”

Very possible

I was glad to hear Biden's speech and the support he got for what he said, by the majority of American states.

Good man!

Yes ….although given the sanctions he probably couldn’t have kept the money anyway

True!
But given that he is giving to the cause shows...to me...that he is against what Putin is doing ...well I'd like to think so

Sanctions with a timeline - up to 18 months. Abramovich isn't even under sanction - is he Boris?  They are effectively meaningless in the UK - there'll be nothing left to freeze/seize. And they've had ages to  prepare for this. Germany have already seized a £600m. superyacht no effin warnings or timelines. The corrupt Tories couldn't organize a piss up. They're in it up to their necks and are just underlining our position as a global  laughing stock. What a shower - and they say Russia is corrupt. A few London law firms and accountants need looking at too.

And they are/ have been everywhere. A Putin crony was honorary president of the Edinburgh International Festival till forced to resign. It's staggering.

Corruption is embedded in the human make up Velvet ...is there a way to rid us of it, I'm not sure there is.
maybe it should be renamed to corrupt'ism'

I should damn well think so too. Corrupt bunch of idiots. Only because most athletes refused to compete. They should have been banned anyway because of the state sponsored doping. Pathetic.

I totally agree Roxan

Baz

Will Russia declare martial law tomorrow?

You know, I see quite a bit of speculation and declaration in the printed media already.

I heard something about it on the news lunchtime Velvet….tbh nothing would surprise me .

Baz

Well if they do western intelligence knew all this was happening.

And I'm convinced they did for all the diplomatic showboating. Let's face it, applauding a Ukrainian Ambassador is a token gesture.

I think they've been hung out to dry.

The victims of the Invasion. A little vague, don’t you think? Wonder if he counts himself as a victim of the invasion? Or am I being overly cynical?

Well I guess we won't know for sure until the club is actually sold, as to what he truly meant.
Whether he is doing it to save face for the club or off load his asset before it could be frozen, if indeed he is thought to be one of those being targeted. There are many questions surrounding him and his association with Putin, as there are so many questions surrounding the invasion. It's hard not to be cynical.

Maybe I prefer to see good in folk and maybe that's foolhardy...who knows Roxan.

I'm just very thankful I am here and not there

I take net proceeds to mean sale minus cost. I always was simple. One creative accountant is all you need. It was a prissy PR statement to buy time.

Feck off to the UAE and the Maldives you thieving prick. We're not all daft.

Well you are right and I applaud you for it. Let’s see the good in people. Thank you for your reply I needed that reminder!

When the news reports constantly show nothing but the worst in people, it's difficult to remember the good at times.

Well, there's supposed to be a temporary ceasefire so that civilians can leave, but the shelling/bombardment has not stopped......thus people are unable to leave in safety!

and wasn't this supposed to be for civilians that no longer have water and are rapidly running out of food

With the new (and final) series of "Killing Eve" just premiering on BBC1, someone posted this on twitter:

So apparently over 1.5 million have fled Ukraine and Britain has taken in 50 so far - and they're still going on with demanding Visa applications and people having to meet certain criteria!

What are we scared of? Why not just let the refugees in first and sort out the rules and regulations after. So, there might be a few sneaking in who aren't real refugees, but they will be few and far between!
