I wasn't born until after the war, but I remember my parents telling me about the insidious propaganda of the '30s and how people were drawn in because the economy had flatlined. If UKIP turn out well in the local elections, I really fear for this country.

PS. The irony of Dudley being in 'the Black Country' probably escaped this fruit-loon.
Hard to know what Ukip stand for as their leader presents a jolly pint-drinking fag-smoking image, while giving a well deserved two fingers up to the Eurocrats.
If that's what they stand for, then Lord help us.

Do you really? Really??
I don't.

That is exactly what worries me about Farage. People (idiots) might vote for him for those reasons. I was at a wedding last weekend in Easington Lane & I was taken aback by the amount of signs in gardens there advertising "I Am Voting UKIP".
They remain silent here and there.

But are they really, or are they just doing it as a wind-up? Though some of them will be genuinely meaning it, no doubt!

Common sense is subjective so forgive me if I don't agree.

I think they were serious signs. I really can't imagine anyone putting a sign that is basically like a house For Sale sign in their garden as wind-up.

Well Cologne - have sleepless nights but it won't get you anywhere.
I'm totally relaxed about the silliness i see being passed off as serious politics.
I was wondering ... what you do with all this concern for the country?

Stop being a dick. There was no need for that last comment.
CINDS i knew you'd say that but i don't mean to be nasty or anything.
I was genuinely wondering

Ah ya big eejit Its a forum! What else is the place for but to discuss things?
Forum definition: a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged

As Cinds said. Stop being a dick. If you want to be taken seriously you're going about it the wrong way. Bless you though.
Oh dear - why do i bother LOL
I do still feel there is no need to worry
My take on this UKip comments about Lenny Henry is because he has recently been vocal about what he believes is racism within the TV companies etc.
But saying he should go back to a black country is ridiculous, the man was born in this country.
CINDS i knew you'd say that but i don't mean to be nasty or anything.

OK.
Nothing to see here, apparently.
The common retort of Ukip types is...
Just because you're against immigration, doesn't make you 'a racist'. The politically correct liberal elite have stamped on debate by saying anyone who disagrees with immigration, is a racist!
The point is true, but let's face it, if you bang on about immigration all the time and make immigration a sole point of your policy and the main scapegoat for the country's ills, you probably are a racist and hold a racist philosophy. That's not say that just because you disagree with immigration policy you must be a racist, just that Ukip are a magnet for racist, white supremacist, f***wits!

I think you've put that into words very well.
This excuse of a man is so, so ignorant. It's people like this that exudes immense feelings of despair with mankind. I am a 60 yr old white anglo saxon male who lives and works in London. I worked in Saudi Arabia for 8+ yrs and understand a great deal about Islam, the unfortunate tensions between the Sunni and Shiite yet, I do NOT hate Muslims, do NOT hate African or Caribbean people. In fact, I do not hate anyone! There are villains, criminals, users and abusers in all walks of life, it's the way they are I guess. I cannot say I love Lenny Henry but, for me, he is a fantastic example of what's cool about the British. I'd rather be Lenny Henry with his talents and skills than what I run across on a daily basis being black, white, Asian etc. Lenny makes me laugh AND..... he is loved by the Royal Family too! This idiot WILLIAM HENWOOD, who I have never heard of has contributed NOTHING to British society, NOTHING! If Lenny was up for Prime Minister, he'll get my vote..
If you've never heard of him then you can't say what he has or hasn't contributed.
Just saying - no offence - though i'm sure someone will take offence

And sadly I have to share a city with it.
i maybe wrong
but i reckon nigel farage has got the idea in his heart to take us back to late 50's when we had love for the country
but BNP and racists have jumped on the bandwagon
i reckon he wants this country to be full of flag wavers
if he hit a middle ground
it could work
