Yep she's gone
Not sure why
There was something about family health matters - but surely if it was that serious she would have known about it before the election?
In a statement to the Times, she said since her election "it has become clear that I do not have sufficient authority, nor the full support of all my MEP colleagues and party officers to implement changes I believe necessary and upon which I based my campaign.
"For personal and professional reasons therefore I will not take the election process further."
Reports of Ms James's resignation prompted speculation that Mr Farage - UKIP leader from 2006-2009 and 2010-2016 - might return to lead the party for a third time.
She doesn't have sufficient authority? A strange one that! how can you not know if you have the authority or not?
I think she has some support, not all party support and so will be challenged instead of supported with her changes
A couple of weeks ago when pressed she gave Putin as an example of one of her heroes. It transpires that his regime have been bombing hospitals and children. It doesn't take someone with a degree in PPE ( me :smug: ) to work out that she has been bundled out.
NB that us Labour types wash our dirty linen in public.
Well,well..........Nigel Farage, who said 'No way - I'm retired' has once again UN-resigned and stepped back into the UKIP leadership. It is supposed to only be a temporary thing.........but let's see how temporary it becomes!
Seeing Farage on stage with Trumpton quashed any interest I had in him.
It seems the UKIP elected leader wasn't actually the leader anyway...technically Farage was and still is the leader of UKIP........

Yes, I would have thought that too.
They've become a joke yes? Is it taking away the focus on the Labour Party?
I don't think so, just providing a few moments of light relief, now and then.
MAJOR NEWS
UKIP leadership hopeful Steven Woolfe was taken to hospital following an altercation at a meeting of party MEPs, interim leader Nigel Farage has said.
In a statement he said Mr Woolfe had "subsequently collapsed" and his "condition is serious".
Mr Woolfe, MEP for the North West, was taken to hospital in Strasbourg for tests.
Mr Woolfe announced on Wednesday he will stand for the party's leadership after Diane James stepped down.
In his statement, Mr Farage said: " I deeply regret that following an altercation that took place at a meeting of UKIP MEPs this morning that Steven Woolfe subsequently collapsed and was taken to hospital. His condition is serious."
Mr Woolfe, who celebrates his 49th birthday today, is said to have been taken ill after walking out of a vote at the parliament in Strasbourg.
Reports that UKIP MEP who punched MEP Steven Woolfe is Mike Hookem, UKIP's defence spokesman, say he is now on the run from French police
Apparently Wolfe is OK. Awaiting another scan, but is conscious and awake.
Oh! Apologies for saying only Labour washed it's linen in public.
I do hope he makes a complete recovery.
i bet the EU lot are loving this
I don't think any of us EU lot are loving it Pirate! We hope he recovers completely and that the French police find the well known nutjob concerned.
Ah! Apparently the victim has to make a complaint and it would appear that he hasn't.

It's often said that the best form of defence is attack!

Just watching Michael Crick now on Channel 4 news: he's saying that he's not convinced ATM that there was any actual physical violence!
Woolfe fell and banged his head: there still seems to be a lot of confusion as to how exactly he fell...
Slipped and fell . . .oldest trick in the book
