As I mentioned on the live CBB thread, I'm about to go on holiday for the next couple of weeks, and I don't expect to be posting much in that time. So - a few heads-ups from glancing through next week's Radio Times:

New series of "Ripper Street" starts Monday 9pm BBC2!

It's apparently set three years on from the last one, and it looks like there's a central case running throughout the series.

Yes , I can't wait

The ad looked SO cool Baz. I really should give it a go!  I've loved Michael McFadyen in anything I've seen him in. And Jerome Flynn in G.O.T. is a joy to watch... his expressions are priceless

Is it worth watching right from series one, please anyone?

You might miss some of the nuances Rosie ....but all the episodes are sort of stand alone , so I would say yes

I watched every single episode of The Walking Dead on the treadmill Baz.  Plenty of terrifying "eeeeek-zombies-run-for-your life!" moments. Plus a panicky high pitched violin soundtrack.  You don't half pick up the pace!!!

Its like having a personal trainer on the cheap

Ch38 - all about railway stations and their working

I love going to railway stations - the noise, the smell, the people

I am a Virgin, so 38 means nothing to me Saint.......

As for railway/tube stations, I love them too.....people watching....wondering where they are going, why they look sad, glad they look happy......

Many a 'moment' in my life has taken place in a 'Station'.

Hello Bazzonova,

Mum is doing really well but still needs my support for the foreseeable future. We have highest rate disability and carers allowances - which help.

Dad is not so well - his issues cannot be cured, he has declined any type of operation due to high risk outcomes and is pondering chemo but will probably reject that too. He's symptom free at present (although weak compared to his normal self) and is coping so will prob continue as he is for as long as he can.

Enjoyed the remake of Goodnight Sweetheart......

Finally caught up with this. I enjoyed it too, however:

1) It felt way too short, and

2) Am I the only one who felt it was intended as a reboot? Officially it was just a one-off special, and Marks and Gran have always denied plans to bring the show back (although apparently they were considering it as a possibility if a planned musical version took off), however this really did come across more like a pilot episode than a "special"...

Since I've started caring for my Mum I've noticed how absolutely dreadful Saturday night TV is.

Bring back TV Gold like The Generation Game, It's a Knockout, BlockBusters ... and where's Million Pound Drop gone?

I generally find one programme I watch Saturdays. Quite often going out for a meal. There is less and less to attract me to Saturday night TV. I'm doing Strictly, but after that I tend to look for a film or become distracted listening to music on YouTube.

I do recall you have many old series to watch.

Murder In Successville at 10.30.

New series or a repeat Velvet?

New series EC - was shown on i player earlier. Good to see it getting a terrestrial viewing too - along with People Just Do Nothing.

Chris Kamara tonight

It's part of the continuing support on BBC2 for BBC3, which now premieres its shows on iPlayer. In similar vein, is anyone-else watching "Fleabag"?

I saw it advertised when  it first came out on iPlayer and it looked interesting. It wasn't practical for me to follow it online at the time, however I'm now glued to it on BBC2. It's at times astonishing TV: unashamedly filthy, but also clever, and brilliantly written and acted.

I'm watching a fascinating programme about mammoths. This guy is extracting DNA from mammoth hair.

What surprises me is that they first wash it with shampoo, rinse in water and then bleech it !!!

Edit:

They reckon they can clone a mammoth within 5 years! A female elephant egg will be the donor. Jurassic Park here we come.

Amazing, they found a small mammoth and it still had it's food pads like they would be on an elephant and it had lots of hair, strawberry blonde hair. Quite extraordinary!
