Homeland, Orange Is The New Black, Narcos, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix?

Homeland.  No question.  (although someone recommened Narcos to me the other day)

Ta Kaffy  I will try it .... and welcome back

And from me

thank you... haven't really been anywhere though!    There's too much good drama on at the moment so I gave up on Masterchef (too big a commitment) and I don't like Bake Off's nasty spin off... so I've been chilling and watching telly uninterrupted most nights

Did nobody watch The A Word btw?   It was excellent - and the wee boy who played Joe has to be a star in the making.

Agree on both counts, Kaffs. I enjoyed the series, and I thought the lad playing Joe was remarkable.

He was wonderful, Eugene - at that age!  Hardly anyone I know watched the series... missed a good 'un.   (loved the soundtrack too)

Anyone watch 'The extraordinary case of Alex Lewis'?

Utterly heart breaking - what an amazing guy who totally deserves better.

I am in awe of him  - I would have crumbled

I didn't watch .....TBH after seeing the trailers I couldn't bear to ....but I agree , he must be totally amazing .....and like you, I know I would have simply given up

I stumbled across a thriller called Hinterland today ( on Iplayer) .....I am really enjoying it ....but there is obviously a back story , presumably from earlier series ....can anyone tell me what it is please?

It's been running on BBC Wales and S4C in Welsh, for a few years,  they show the English version after. Richard Harrington plays a cop who has lost his daughter in a fire...blames himself, wife leaves him ,taking his other daughter so he is this depressed man brooding around in the rainy bleak landscape.....solving crime and living in a caravan.

I'm going to go to bed and watch Prometheus tonight and if I stay awake long enough I will watch the film which follows, Alien, one of my all time favourites.

Prometheus is an amazing looking film - great effects EC. Hope you enjoy it

I fell asleep Roger, probably about 20 mins in.

However I did see it at the cinema.

Just watched The Hollow Crown on iplayer.  Huge chunks have been cut from the original play but I found it very enjoyable all the same.  Some first-rate performances from a stellar cast.  Looking forward to the next in the series.

Riveting stuff!

I also enjoyed it a lot. Yes: there was a lot of editing, but then again "Henry VI Part 1" is often considered to be the weakest of Shakespeare's plays. What they've done is taken 4 three and a half hour long plays (the three Henry VI plays and Richard III) and turned them into about 6 hours of TV. You'll have also noticed that last night's show included part of "Henry VI Part 2", and they swapped some of the characters around...

One nice touch I noticed: Tom Beard, who played Sir William Lucy, died last year, so they dedicated the show to him, and put his name at the top of the credits...

The only bits of the BBC Shakespeare season I watched were Upstart Crow, Philomena Cunk, and Ran [ based on King Lear ]

And me named after one of his characters too [Rosalind]

A heads-up for anyone following "Marcella" on ITV:

In case you don't already know, both of the final two episodes are being broadcast this week. Ep. 7 is tonight (Mon), and Ep. 8 tomorrow - both 9pm.

I've got it set up to record

Ditto Baz.

Undercover and Marcella are great!

Thanks for the heads up Eugene.

I've been watching both too. Good to have some decent drama on tv.

I've been recording "Upstart Crow" - haven't seen it yet.

"Ran"'s wonderful!   (Mind you, I've always been a Kurosawa fan anyway...)

And as a Shakespearean aside: did you know that one of the moons of Uranus is named after Rosalind from "As You Like It"?
