I'm looking forward to it.
I've now set the Tivo box to record the series.

Without going into spoiler details, look out for a surprise appearance by Michelle Gomez mid-season!
I had to look her up as the name did not ring a bell but once I saw her face I thought 'great', she is a good actress. I remember her from Green Room and Bad Education before Doctor Who
She is indeed one of those actresses who you probably don't know by name, but recognize as soon as you see (or hear) her. She's married to Jack Davenport, and probably best known for playing Missy in Doctor Who.
I first became aware of her in "The Book Group", but I was surprised to discover recently that her first major role was in the film "The Acid House".
Lots of good things coming up next week

I heard great reviews on 5live today. The TV pundits were incredibly enthusiastic about this show so I'm in! By the way, hello my friends.

I'm up to her part.
This is such a brutal series with the characters, they really don't mind putting them through the ringer or even bumping them off quite quickly, or as I suspect, bumping them off with a possibly return at some stage.
Really enjoying it and one of the problems with 'binging' on a series is I think you get into it more than watching an episode once a week, when I reach the end of the episodes I'm feeling a sense of loss.
BTW interesting connections between Michelle and her husband, her husband was in Coupling, written by Moffat who went on the write for Doctor Who.

C5 aren't showing "Gotham" next week (something to do with a "Neighbours" special ), so you've a chance to come up to speed with the "live" episodes.
US series usually have a long winter break, but C5 waited a long time before starting series 2 of "Gotham", and they've therefore largely skipped that gap (E4 did roughly the same thing with "Agents of SHIELD"). It therefore might not be so obvious that there's a bit of a shift between the two halves: the first 11 episodes were subtitled "Rise of the Villains", but the second 11 are subtitled "Wrath of the Villains", with a potentially major game-changer in episode 12 .
Re binging: for a number of reasons - mostly practical - I really can't binge. I sort-of admire those who can, but I really can't find the time. Heck, I have enough trouble keeping up with my "regular" TV viewing without cramming in a new series as well! As I've said before, the closest I've come to it was when Spike showed the whole of "Breaking Bad" last summer - a new episode every week night. It was worth it, but tough, and my BB viewing suffered (which was probably a good thing... )

I have now up to episode 14 on my media player and I know I will have withdrawal symptoms once I finish them. I had noticed that they were using a tagline for each half of the season and was expecting the series to take a turn depending on each title.

Well, you may find things ease off a little, as you're now ahead of the UK broadcasts (so no spoilers please!), and you've almost caught up with the US broadcasts. I believe Episode 16 was shown in the States this week and apparently there's no episode next week, so you're already down to one episode a week for the rest of the series...
Boomers - BBC One. Can't say I have ever seen this before and it looks to be on Episode 2, but there have been one or two laugh out loud moments, anyone else seen it?
Heavy Metal Britannia - Just enjoying this programme on BBC Four.
Good stuff.
Intrigued by the look of "The People Next Door" on C4 at 9pm.
A modern (and edgier) "Rear Window", perhaps?

Anyone watching The Durrells on ITV Sunday nights? Its much better then I was expecting, a real hoot in fact
Over on Netflix, Better Call Saul S.2 is brilliant - two s up!
The Good Wife is soapy but watchable. Its become repetitive in its plots [ their inhouse detective is always turning up evidence which everyone else missed to turn the case round AGAIN ]. Also its hard to root for anyone as they're mostly all lawyers doing each other down.
House of Cards S.4 was ok, twisty machiavellian goings on, but again its hard to root for anyone. There's so little backstory to the characters. It could do with a few flashback scenes a la Mad Men or Saul.
Vikings is good - very atmospheric and interesting to see how they lived. Its more straightforward than Game of Thrones... there aren't as many twists and shocks and its not nearly half as much fun.
And that completes my review. You're welcome !
I've got HIGNFY on and the opening credits/introductions are funny first off

Great opener for the new series. I'm not usually all that keen on Henning When, but I thought he was very good tonight. Stephen Mangan's little tribute to Ronnie Corbett was also nicely done.
Eugene's Lair posted:Kaffs posted:Eugene's Lair posted:So: how many of also are waiting patiently for the start of Series 3 of "Line of Duty"?
well... it didn't disappoint!
Not-half!
That first episode had everything we'd hope from "Line of Duty": an exiting chase opening, an extremely tense (and prolonged) interview scene, and a game-changing twist ending - cracking stuff!
ive never watched it before, i saw a clip on gogglebox, so watched 1st ep of series3
then next day i watched all of series 2
then day after got half way through series 1
ive done it arse backwards lol but its brilliant
I finally got around to watching Marcella.....I quite enjoyed it...well enough to watch episode 2

Gotta month trial with Amazon Prime - don't worry I've already unticked my auto sign up after a month hoo-haa.
So I gave "Fear the walking dead" only cos it was recommended.
What a let down - 3 episodes in and its nothing new, utter rip off of the Walking dead.
It's only cos I'm getting it for free that i'll keep going

Thanks Saint I was thinking of giving it a go [just finished s. 6 of The Walking Dead, which I love] . I was hoping, If they're going back over the same premise, they'd do something special or different.
