I am watching a repeat of the programme For the Love of Cars. Never seen it before although I am aware of it. The only reason I am watching is because I am on holiday and mainly because they are restoring an Aston Martin DBS.

Philip Glenister - WHY !?!?!?!

I cannot see why he is part of the programme. It would work without him. The other guy provides enough viewer interaction.

The programme is almost drowning in jeopardy. Every two or three minutes there is something else which could put the ultimate spanner in the works. This type of programme device is getting so overused it is now irritating.

But I do love looking at Aston Martin's.

WOW - they got a world record ÂĢ150,000 for the car at auction !!!

Don't watch it for a while and all the cast changes, bit like Doctor Who.

Yes, but there's Larry â™Ĩ Lamb so it's quite nice to look at now

PS.  Never question "why" re Philip â™Ĩ Glenister!  Some of us are happy with just a "because...."

And Raymond of â™Ĩ Winstone â™Ĩ is recorded and waiting my fullest attention.

(This could be my favourite ever post in the history of posting)

I saw a brief trailer for that a few days ago but didn't know what it was - great looking cast, I'll be recording it.

I have to say that I have never been a Danny Baker fan, but this series is quite good indeed. I will keep watching now as two episodes in and I'm pretty much hooked.

The only thing is I am not sure Peter Kay can do or keep up a 'London' accent.

Apart from that it's a  from me.

No spoilers as I may not be able to watch it until tomorrow, but I have a strong suspicion that we're going to get an inconclusive ending. There are just too many loose threads still hanging...

I agree...   I think there'll be a second series.    i have really enjoyed it so far though (I wont' be watching it tonight either)

No.. don't watch live, just have Cradle to Grave set to record, so don't see what's on after.  Is it good?

It's very different. The main character is a post op transsexual (male to female). The main character is a transsexual in real life.

It's been funny in places, but I think everyone is waiting for the boyfriend to reveal that his new girlfriend used to be a man.

I'll see how episode three goes.

It has a lady in it who is quite a well known actress, has been on CBB.

Hopefully it's safe to post this now that the Monday repeat has screened...

So: not as inconclusive as I expected, but still no definitive ending and clearly set up for a second series - which unfortunately is not going to happen.

I deliberately didn't do any googling while the show was actually running (I've hit too many spoilers that way as it is), however it appears that NBC cancelled the show after just one series...

[BTW, be aware that the show is known online as "American Odyssey". It's original title was "Odyssey", but NBC changed it a few weeks before broadcast in the States.]

Eugene's Lair

Oh Good Grief: just discovered virtually by accident that C5 have changed their schedule at short notice and instead of showing the penultimate episode of "Under the Dome" tonight they're showing the final two episodes as a double-bill!

Also: it turns out that "Under the Dome" has also been cancelled, so these really are the final episodes.

I've just watched the last episode and I'm gutted that there's not going to be a second series.

Me too, Jen -  can't wait to find out exactly what's going on!

The ending last week felt like there was a lot more than we first thought going on... His birthday speech where he said something like pity/sympathy was a real punch to the guts for her i think

I watched it, too.  Thought it rather strange behaviour from a doctor in places but will give it another go because I'm curious as to what is going on.

Slightly unorthodox, true   Enjoyed it all the same - and looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.

Did anyone see 'An Inspector Calls' last week?  Jolly good, I thought.

I'm going to record 'The Go Between'.

I watched 'An Inspector Calls' last week. It wasn't bad, but I preferred the Alistair Sim version.

I'm embarrassed to say I don't think I've seen the Alistair Sim version. I do vaguely remember a TV adaptation some years ago, and I've seen it on stage.

I enjoyed both last week's BBC production and tonight's "The Go-Between".

Eugene's Lair

I think that, although the A. Sim version was a tough act to follow,  the cast of this new version made a good fist of it.  David Thewlis as the Inspector was, I thought, magnificent. It is a bleak, thought-provoking little parable - J B Priestley at his finest, I reckon.  Would love to see it on the stage.

Not a lot of laughs on offer in the sad tale of The Go-Between, either but some fine performances from the cast, especially the actor playing the young Leo.  It was beautifully filmed and we also had a bit of shirt-off scything activity from Farmer Burgess.

Top-drawer stuff from Auntie Beeb and we've got 'Cider with Rosie' next Sunday!
