That reminded me of sitting through my niece's graduation.    Three and a bit hours.. her surname begins with 'B' - she was done and dusted in 20 minutes and we'd to sit applauding for another three hours as one graduate after another picked up their scrolls.     I started limiting my applause the two at the top of each page in the programme.

Sorry can't quote atm....Aimee I remember the struggle to get Barbie's out of boxes when my niece used to get them, and their accessories ...Jen the screwed in malarky is relatively new yes, toys screwed in, cable tied in places where they're not screwed  if they're battery operated more often than not a screwdriver to open the compartment to put the batteries in...if it get's any worse we'll need to book a joiner prior to buying toys.

See.. if you were forward thinking though, you'd have registered for your course as Ms Allan or something     (I'm a W btw... so I'd be in the same boat)

My bf is a A so at his recent PhD graduation I thought he'd be right at the beginning, nope, the PhD presentation was right at the end of the session After the dean of the uni spoke, the guest speaker, the undergrad presentations, the Masters presentations It was funny though, cos they got a separate little intro and when the guy said it was the presentations for the PhD peeps, the audience all went 'ooohhhhh'

Oh yes.. I remember us thinking 'Yes, Y at last...'  then they started with the PhDs!   Never so glad to see the pub as I was that day.

hard boiled eggs that you want for a salad, but you can't get the shell off without tearing great lumps of egg off with it.

i am currently experimenting with peeling them when they are still hot , this seems to work, so i am assuming the  shell is hard to peel off if you plunge the  boiled eggs into cold water, i suspect its some thing to do with making the membrane  bit go clingy.

thats my theory anyways.

i think about this quite a lot...

nah.. you've just found a lucky batch of eggs.  I always peel them hot and often lose chunks of egg.   It's worse if they're not hard boiled and you get molten yolk all over your hand let me tell you!

Very fresh eggs don't boil well, the shells often "Stick" older eggs for boiling.

you've really looked into this haven't you

Aimee

i have tried the plunge into icy water method  and making them very cold very quickly, it doesn't work.

i peel eggs most days , so it's not just a lucky batch, i think i'm onto some thing..

it's rare that i am unable to peel a hot egg and leave it intact.

you may have a point about the fresh eggs, i have no idea how old  or fresh any of the eggs are in our house.

I need to think about this some more.
